Debt collection/process server extortion scam.  Don't call them back.  Read and learn here:

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Recorded message looking for a woman named Andrea.  They have been calling this phone number every week since I got it in June.  Called them back, but they wouldn't speak to me because I wasn't Andrea.

    Not Anna Glennon
Scam. I used to receive these calls almost weekly, at a mobile number that I had already owned for a while. I actually once returned their call to say they had the wrong number, and they finally stopped. Today was the first call I’ve received from them in the past several months, so I am blocking their number. The recorded message says that it is “Attorney Goldstein’s office calling for Anna Glennon” and refers to “case file # W.82166” with a request to return their call at 877-350-3823. They say that there are several formal complaints in the process of being filed against “Anna Glennon.”

Yes, much better to report them to a useless, toothless, worthless agency than to report them to actual federal and state agencies that actually have law enforcement powers.  It pays to read since then you would have learned exactly where those agencies are since I previously posted links to them.

Scam: left a brief recorded voicemail claiming to be Verizon’s verification department and stating that my account hs been suspended. Two options: press 1 to reactivate acct or 2 to speak to a Verizon wireless representative. Well, guess what? I don’t have a Verizon account. Also, the number was oddly spoofed: incoming call showed as 1-800-983-2671, then was listed in missed calls as 1-877-350-3823.

This number called my works employee call in line and was saying they would serve me a warrant and had a case number. I called the number and requested identification of the caller and they hung up on me twice and told me I would be served with papers at my work or home. They didn't tell me who they were, what I was been served for and how they obtained my jobs call in line. Figure this is another collection scam, but interrupting my place of employment is going to far without giving me an answer.
