- Brianna| 6 repliesHow did you know this was a scam? Who did they call you from? Just asking cause they called me as well.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Brianna| 5 repliesNo one said it was a scam except you, but it would be helpful if you told about YOUR call.
- Brianna replies to MikeHuntleton| 4 repliesSorry to be confusing. This number called me saying they were from red cedar associates and that I owed money to a payday loan I pulled out a year ago. They told me to either pay it in full right there or they would be letting it go through the court system. When I asked them exactly how it works once it goes to the court all he could say was “it just has to go through court” he really didn’t know much. I’m just wondering who called anybody else from this number since I can’t find it anywhere online.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Brianna| 3 repliesThanks for coming back and replying. Buffalo NY is a haven for Debt Collectors and many use illegal tactics to extort money.
I do know that any debt collection company has to provide you with proof you owe them a debt and telling you to pay now or you will wind up in court is an illegal threat. I did find another number they use, reported here at 800notes and you can find some useful information about them:

Debt Collectors use spoofing programs to hide who they are and this is most likely a new number they are using.Quote:I’m just wondering who called anybody else from this number since I can’t find it anywhere online. - Brianna replies to MikeHuntleton| 2 repliesThank you for responding, I have another question. I received a call this morning from “no called ID” and then a voicemail from “unknown” stating that they would be by my home tomorrow so I could sign papers and a claim validation form and to have an ID ready. Is this a real thing?
- MikeHuntleton replies to Brianna| 1 replyThat is part of the same "Extortion Scam", probably the same people who previously called. Anyone who calls to say they are bringing papers to your house and request that YOU validate who you are is trying to intimidate you into paying over the phone.
They are supposed to PROVE you owe THEM before you are required to pay a dime. Don't let anyone intimidate you, call the police if they show up at your house and try pressuring you to pay them.
Its highly unlikely anyone will, since they use that tactic just to scare people into paying. But if someone does show up, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! Simply tell them you want validation of the debt FIRST and you want to take time to review it with your Attorney. You can always call the police if necessary. - Brianna replies to MikeHuntletonThank you so so much, I have been stressing over this so much and I really appreciate all your help.

- Former RCA EMPLOYEEIndeed it is Red Cedar Associates, and yes, they are attempting to scam you. I would know, because I worked there.
Jimmy Chebat purchased your account from your creditor and employs Titus Tallchief, Kristi Clark, and Jalia Waller to use a bevy of LLCs to cover for him. They are on office of roughly 15 untrained debt collectors. They will threaten legal action to recover what you owe the creditor. They are lying, we never filed a single lawsuit. In fact, if you do a simple google search, you’ll find that Mr. Chebat’s agency has been sued many times.
Do not pay them. They cannot break the law to collect your debts. If anything, they’ll owe you money if they call you.
