- Upset| 1 replyReceived a voice mail from this caller about a relative: "Yes, this is for @@@@ @@@@@ @@@@@. My name is James White, Im calling with Cage and Associates. I'm calling because our office unfortunately has been retained here by a client of ours. Now they do have summons scheduled for @@@@ count court naming you as the sole respondant in regards to looks like to be a check fraud case and a few other allegations. They are allowing me to reach out to you to see if I can possibly get a statement on file and maybe even rectify this matter outside of any court proceedings. You will need to contact me immediately at 877-471-7791, thank you"
Part 2: I called the number back and explained my relationship to the person they were calling and said I would like additional information about this check fraud, he asked me first to verify their SSN (I refused), then said can you verify DOB (I did). He then when on to state my relative took out a loan in 2014 and defaulted that same year and named two companies (both of which I looked up while he was talking and neither exist (FYI). This is where thing got nasty:
Me: Can you please send me documents via USPS?
James: No, I can via email
Me: No thanks I want it sent via US mail so I can have it documented
James: That's Bull-Sh$$, you are using a delay tactic to push this out 2 weeks, I will send it to you via email NOW A$$-H0$$!
Me: Again James, I want it via mail and who did you say you work for? Cage and Associates, is this how you treat people when you call them.
James: Look you mother-f$$$er, listen to the message, I don't work for CAGE...
Me: (interrupting) I have your message in print and it your said Cage and
James: A$$-H-$$$ I don't work them and I am not a customer care representative I can treat you however the F&&& I want you mother F%%% A$$-H&&&&, go F&&& yourself.. CLICK (Hung up on me!)
Part 3: James immediately called my relative and left a very nasty vm threating Jail time, a squad car showing up at there place of employment to "take them away", "see ya at the bail heading", said they better call them back and never let anyone else talk them because this is their problem...
Part 4: I along with my relative contacted our local police and reported this call and spoke with an officer. Unfortunately, we were informed these types of "SCAM" calls are fairly common and they will continue to mask their numbers, there is little we as consumers can do to make it stop. He said do as we did; a) Never provide any personal information (SSN, DOB, Checking Acct, CC#, Address, etc...) b) Always request that they send you documents via USPS, never email (because again emails can be covered) c) Try to get information about them and there company before anything d) Inform your relatives of the same thing
Luckily for us I myself have been in this situation in the past and knew a thing or two about talking with these folks. I would also recommend you contact your State AG, most have forms you can fill out to report these guys. Unfortunately these calls will never stop until our lawmakers make it illegal and begin prosecuting but even then I think it will still occur.
Sorry for the long story all, but I want all of you to know our experience with James (from CAGE AND ASSOCIATES), and how his scam worked.- Caller: Cage and Associates

- Annoyed replies to UpsetSimilar call from James today about me. Asked me to validate my social, and then Gave me some bogus story about a loan from 2015. I have never taken out a loan in my life except for school that I'm still paying off. He started swearing at me as well. Thanks for the advice I'll be reporting these scammers to my AGs office immediately. My uncle also is a Sheriffs deputy in my county so I'm hoping he can track this guy down and arrest him for harassment and verbal assault.
- YaScamVoicemail from Cage Ass.. called back and asked me to validate my soc sec. When I refuses the rep started using profanity, and I lost it and let off as well. I get these stupid calls from these scam artist about 6 or 7 times a year and have been for about 3 years now. Now I did take a loan back in 2013 from one of those online lenders (not a payday but high interest) but my husband and I have documents with proof it was paid. I talked to a lawyer last year and she informed us of data breach from these online lenders that occurred between 2010 and 2014, basically these companies sold our info and there's nothing we can do to stop it but report it to the FTC. My 83 year old grandma gets these calls from these scumbags as often as we do asking about me and asking her to pay or I'll go to jail for years. First time she was really worried and almost paid $780, but now she said it's become a fun game for her and her friends to see who can keep these [***] on the longest without having them "loose there cool".
Scumbags go get a real job and stop treating us hard working Americans.
