I just got a call and i could not understand the guy with his strong asian accent! he asked me about if my address was somewhere but i have never heard of and he had my old maiden name. what on earth is this phone # from????

I just got a call as well.  They called my cell phone and said they were from Allied Interstate.  The guy sounded Indian.  As soon as he asked if I lived at a really old address I hung up.  I'm at work and I don't have time for this nonsense!

Received a call from this number on my cell phone late this afternoon. Woman who was hard to understand wanted to verify my address, an address almost 10 years old. Spoke about a columbia account I supposedly had in 2002. She did finally tell me company name, Westinghouse I believe, but only after I said sure that is my old address. Looks like they are trying to collect on very old accounts that are way out of the statute of limitations in any state. If they call you watch what you say carefully.

Never Talk to any collection agency over a phone. NEVER EVER.

Ask them to send anything and everything through mail, once you get a letter from them, send them a debt validation letter via certified mail with return receipt. Never admit to anything and never give them more info than they are sending you in that letter, like any other addresses or correct names.

Never talk over a phone with them. Get a blocking service like OOMA or other to block numbers.

Don't panic, but never ever talk to them or even call them back to tell them to stop calling, they won't unless you send them a cease and desist letter via certified mail when you get a letter in the mail if ever.

Allied Interstate was all that I got because her accent was so thick I couldn't understand a word she was saying.  I ended up yelling at her that I couldn't understand her and I just hung up...If it is a collection agency for columbia house, they reported fraudulently on my credit report a year ago and I had to get the attorney general office involved to have them cease and desist and remove it from my report.  So, now they start to call me about something that was already proven to be fraud?

I got a call today at my home asking for my mother. I kept asking who he was and what he wanted, he refused to tell me. I informed him my mother has been dead almost 4 yrs now and asked again what do you want! He paused and said hold on a second and hung up. Very upsetting and aggravating, considering my mother never lived with me. How did they get my number?

received a call at 10:44pm tonight, didnt answer. i cant believe they called my house at this time. freaking ridiculous.

Called asking for my husband. I said he wasn't here, but offered to take a message. They asked if I was his wife. I said yes. The man told me his name, which I couldn't understand b/c he had such a thick accent. He said the call may be recorded and he needed to verify that he was speaking to the correct person and asked me to verify my address. I asked who was calling and he again gave his name and began pushing for my address. I interrupted and said I needed to know who he was with and he said in a very hateful way "it's a business!". Then I hung up.

This company has been calln me since 11/16 its now 12/01 and I just got a call on my cell when I answered finally a Indian man answered he asked if I was who I was but I didn't kno who he was so when I asked what it was in regards to he kept tryna get my info so I just Hung up...

Got a call from this number 877-487-9946 at 12;15am on 12-03.  I said hello a few times, but no reply, just background noise....so  I just hung up.  After reading previous posts above, I am glad I did!

Received a call from 1-877-487-9946 and they didn't leave a message so I called back. There was no ringing and a recording didn't even come on that was a red flag and the slience in the back ground at first, I was saying hello no answer and then this noise and the woman with a heavy accent asking me about an address and a bill from columbia house. I hung up and I sent an email to columbia house. The funny thing was I couldnt understand her and she didnt state the name of the company and if she did it wasnt clear enough because of her accent.

yeah i contacted Columbia house and they sent an email back stating they had no rocord of me on file

Got a call on my cell this morning...man had a thick accent...asked for me and after I asked who was calling three times, and he only kept asking for someone, with no identifying who HE was (which he is required to do BY LAW), I hung up...NEVER talk to someone when you have no idea who they are...obviously a collector with a location off-shore...

I had finally spoken with someone, they called my spouse several times on his cell. As well as mine and my home,I dont know what they were after but that I'm one the do not call list. Seems very FISHY.

Same number calling at 11:46pm as in my previous post of 12-03.  This looks like it's going to be a common occurrence.  I'll just ignore it and will tell the rest of my family to do the same.

got a call from this number. Could not understand the person talking, had a thick Indian accent. He asked if I lived at an old address. Then he said I had an out standing balance with Columbia house. Ugh its been 20 years or more since I remember Columbia house. He wanted my checking account number or credit card number. Told him I do not give that information over the phone. I asked him to give me his address. He said he was with allied interstate. He gave me a PO box when I asked for the state he said rugime. I said that state is not in the United states of America. he argued with me I told him to look at a map. He said its on the Atlantic coast. I started naming the states on the east coast and told him to pick one. He still insisted it was a state called rugime. I hung up on him. they are calling non stop everyday 4 to 5 times a day. I work nights and sleep during the day. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
