This number is used by a fraudulent CAPITAL ONE merchant.
The debit charge appears as  CAPITAL ONE BANK 877-488-0757
and is usually for $2000.00 or other large amounts.
Contacted Capital One and from the conversation THEY ARE AWARE of the issue
and have done nothing for over nine months.
FILE A POLICE REPORT and CONTACT FBI Financial Crimes if you are affected this scam.

They took $4,500 from my small business debit card with Bank of America. The charge was allowed to go through even though it was more than double the amount of funds in the account.

I hope you filed fraud.. And with that much involved, the FBI/IC3 should be involved.  And BOA? They love to grab service charges any place they can. They should have been questioning such a large amount all at once to begin with MO!

Happened to me this week. $3,500. Took it from my Wells Fargo account into a capital one account. Wells Fargo is giving me the money back, of course, but it will take a few days. I was literally on the phone with capital one for two hours being transferred from person to person (with no results or answers). Seriously why is this still happening?

This number appeared as an auto finance payment in my checking account for 533.00. I do not even have a car loan. This is sad as it has tied my account up and i had to cancel all of my auto pay bills. Really these things have got to stop!!

So what does cancelling all your auto pay bills have to do with this? It will not stop them from submitting it again next month. You seem to be completely unaware of what needs to be done. You could have simply blocked every one of these payments through your bank. Your bank could have told you where the payments are going. You could have sent them a certified, return receipt letter. You could have made a police report and included it in that letter. You could have filed a complaint with your State Attorney General. You could have changed your account numbers. Instead you did pretty much nothing if your post is completely accurate.

I did do what I was supposed to do. I immediately called my bank and I had my debit card cancelled and put in a claim. I did it as soon as I saw this in my account. I have a strict budget and I had to cancel two of my account payments. These are paid automatically by me. Because I had a new debit card issued to me. I now have to await for this card to arrive in the mail. The problem is that 533.00 dollars is locked up in my account. Let alone the original charge over drew my checking account. Seems to me that if my bank called the number in the bill they would immediately know it was a fraudulant transaction. After all thats how I found out that this number was fraudulant after calling it and recieving a fax signal and searching the number got me here. Thank You for your concern but im not stupid and very computer saavy!!

So you expect your bank to call every number for anyone doing an automatic withdrawal from your account?! Why would they do that? As far as they know, you authorized the withdrawal.

I contacted B of A they told me to contact the number that was taken out the money I did it's a fraudulent number the 877 number I tried to explain to them that it was still pending so they would be able to stop $178. This money is coming out of my disability account how many other people that are on disability are they standing by and allowing these companies to take the money from them when they know that it is a fraudulent case simply by either calling Capital One and verifying it or call the number that they're telling me to call to verify it but they refuse to do either one till 7 Days Later you think somebody on disability has time to wait everybody and their brother is trying to grab that money from landlords, utilities and food B of A is probably the worst bank out there to give those of us that are disabled I wish they would just send us checks like they used to then we wouldn't have to deal with B of A

Well another confusing post.  What does Bank of America have to do with Capital One which is a completely different bank.  Why do you think that you have to get your SS payments through Bank of America?  You can have them direct deposited in any bank or credit union of your choosing.
