    Not htat i received a call but i have recently set up my online baking information so taht i can pay my bills at home with out having to call the bank to do it. Much to my horror i found these people listed onmy bank vendors list as people taht i make payment too!!! I have NO idea how they were listed on ther and asked my bank to find out iof any payment has been made to them. I know for fact taht i did not add them as i have nor eason too. There was no payments made to them thank god but still hafve no Idea how they managed to get themselves added to my list of creditors.

    My bank stated tah5t they look like a credit collections agency and asked if i had erv owed someone or have been arrears for any payments which i have nevr been.

    They(my bank) nor I have any idea how they were added but haave been promptlydeleted...Anyone know how this may have happened?

    Call em up and chat. I spent an hour talking with them tonight. Threw em for a total loop.

    I asked how their day was, what they had for supper, when are they off work, Etc. Most are silent and try to verify who they are talking to. Some are good people just making a living. Although most would hang up on me after a couple mins, you can get the odd one for 20mins or so. Heh.

    I kept calling back, over and over. I got the same girl about 6 times. She asked if I was being a smartass... I said yes.

    I have never had such a blast messing with people on the phone.

    They think I have a $50 parking ticket. I was trying to explain to them they have spent way more than that contacting me. (Phone calls, letters, and of course, man hours.) I burnt up a whole hour tonight alone. Too bad thats only $9 of their wages. A little over 4 hours of calling left for me! (Burning up their long distance)

    Maurice is real nice. He is a teacher, and works part time at Iqor. Great guy. He was the only one that seemed like a real person. Of course, he will likely be fired after someone sees this post. (Sorry Maurice!)

    Talked to Marius for a min. He hung up on me quite quickly.

    Talked to another girl, but I couldnt quite catch her name. (They all have thick accents, Indian, Jamaican, I dont know.) She hung up quite early in the conversation too.

    Elsa... You gotta call for Elsa. She is great. She is the one who thought I was a smartass. Oh Elsa, you know, dont you... you know.

    Then there was Piyar. Again, tough to understand. He was all business, but I did finally get him to tell me about his work schedule.

    I am telling ya, give em a call and just shoot the breeze. Its a freakin hoot!

    Harassment is forbidden
    The general rule is that anyone collecting a debt – either a creditor or a debt collection business – cannot
    communicate or attempt to communicate with a debtor or their family, acquaintances or employer in a manner or with a frequency that the communication constitutes harassment. Harassment is defined in the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act to include:

    using threatening or intimidating language
    exerting excessive or unreasonable pressure
    publishing or threatening to publish the debtor’s failure to pay what they owe the creditor
    Creditors and debt collectors cannot intimidate you
    They’re not allowed to contact you, your family, or your employer in such a way that it may cause alarm, distress or humiliation. For example, they cannot phone your home every ten minutes all day long demanding payment, if that tactic distresses your family members. Similarly, they aren’t allowed to stand on your front lawn with a megaphone, demanding payment, for all your neighbours to hear. Those are extreme examples, but many more subtle techniques are forbidden as well.

    In Canada regulation is provided by the province or territory in which they operate. The law is typically called the Collection Agencies Act and usually affords a government ministry power to make regulations as needed.[8] However, the regulations limit the agency to three contacts with the debtor per 7 day period in Alberta and Ontario. All other provinces and territory's a collector may contact the debtor once a day. Further, a debtor should not be contacted unless they have been notified in writing first that the debt has been assigned to the agency making the contact.[9]. This is only if the debtor disputes the fact that they did not receive notice first in writing. The solution is to remail the debtor a notice wait seven days then recontact the debtor using normal methods. Most debts in Ontario, Canada are subject to a limitation period of two years. After the second anniversary of the last formal intention to pay the debt, the collection agency nor anyone else has authority to collect it.[10] This second anniversary only deals with legal aspects pertaining to debt collection, meaning the statute of limitations deals with the courts of Ontario, only when the debt is before the court does this affect it. Equifax will still retain the debt and the collection on your credit file for 7 years. Although the collection agency can continue to collect or attempt to collect the debt, they cannot garnish or place a lien on the debtor, unless the court upholds a new date of last activity on the account based on other factors.

    For further information, see the Ontario regulations section on prohibited practices.

    Unreasonable Collection Practices

    The following are some of the unreasonable collection practices outlined in the BC Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act:

    Debt collectors are not allowed to:

    Make a charge or threat that has nothing to do with the collection of the debt;
    Make abusive calls in which they lose their temper and use profanity or other verbal abuse;
    Talk to your employer without your permission, unless it's to confirm your employment;
    Talk to you, your family or your employer in a way that will humiliate or distress anyone.
    Make frequent calls that constitute harassment. Unless you provide the reason, a collector should NEVER call you more than once a day. Reasonable collection practices should not require that the collector call you more than once a week or every second week in order to determine if your financial situation has changed;
    Give you a document that is made to look like an official court document when it isn't

    This is Canadian Bonded Credit, they are the bottom feeders of collection agencies. They buy up "junk collections", collections others have given up on or have low hope of ever collecting money for.

    Don't call them, this will only show them this is a active number and they will call EVEN MORE.

    These guys have zero ethics. They call after legal calling hours and on weekends, this is ILLEGAL for a collection agency, but they don't give a damn.

    They only sure way to stop them is to get a new number and make it unlisted.

    A man calling himself "Mr Gregory" tried to get person information from me. He claimed to be from the Ministry of Finance and Education in Quebec. I suspected a scam for several reasons - there is no such ministry in Quebec and, in any case, their first communication would have been in French! I have now received a demand for money ($964.17) and the name on the notice is Gregory Desrosier. I contacted Bell Canada and The Quebec Ministry of Finance (nothing to do with education!) and they are making enquiries. The written demand is the last straw and this will be given to the police!

    I hope I do not offend, but,

    To those who complain about collections, typically it is because you may have failed to live up to your obligations to pay your bills. True some of you may be in a difficult spot and it may be through no fault of your own, but on the other hand no collector forced you to take credit. Also, if the debt is not owed, there is no collector in his/her right mind that would demand that you pay the bill. You may just need to provide proof. That being said if you find yourself in a tight spot during these tough times and if you are out of work, call your nearest collection agency. It is after all a recession proof job. As well you are correct; it does pay well for those who work hard and typically long hours. It may not be the most prestigious job but I know many that support a family and provide their kids a great education because of the successes they have had in this industry. So if you need a job try collections. We are willing to train and provide good benefits. What ever you decide good luck in your future endeavors.
