The Called me and said I had two pending Civil cases angaist me. I tried call back and It sent me to a voice mailbox

I got a phone call today saying a fraudulent check had been written and that I was going to be served at my job or home. That the original bill was $250 and now I owed $315.00. This is a harrassing phone call from a credit collection company.

What I have found is that you have to push with your reporting. I didn't just got to the IC3.gove website, I called my FBI field office. I called my state Homeland Security and Secret Service Offices. I called my state police instead of my local police. And when they called, I told them this. A SS agent actually called them back on my behalf and I haven't had a call since. I have tracked numbers and reported them to the telcomm companies that own them.

The FBI has received over 10,000 compliants. THe officer I spoke to made calls to our regional office and then at a national level. From what he tells me, this is not being looked at as a scam anymore, but attempted extirtion ring, and it is being actively investigated. THe FTC is also actively investigating this and says they are VERY close to closing in on several perpetrators. There have been a number of people on these boards contacting DATELINE NBC- enough of us that they are actively researching and putting together a story....... and I encourage anyone here to do so. I received a call today. Since it was Not Available I didn't answer. They left a message saying, " This message is for _______  ______ or _______  _______ I am scheduled to come out to your area to serve legal documents. you need to call the attorney's office at 1-877-504-2457. they are holding your case. the case # is ____________. you have been officially notified. good luck with this matter going forwards.
My husband called and they wanted more than just the case #. The few items they did mention to him were wrong. We think this is a scam.

I received several calls saying they were looking for a friend of mine.  They said they needed to serve a subpoena to her for writing bad checks.  I gave them no info, and they have called back twice since.  My friend does not even live in the same state as me and how they know my phone # and not hers is beyond me.  I've informed her of the calls and advised she check her credit report to make sure no one has stolen her identity
