I got this call, too, when it was time for my membership renewal, because we hadn't been on automated payments.  I found the main AAA number for my state, called and gave them my payment information and then had the rep verify that 877-507-6369 is, in fact, a legitimate AAA number.

I got the same call and gave her my credit card number to renew my membership from AAA and then panicked when I hung up.  So I went online and got the # that AAA lists on their site.  I then called them to verify that it was legit.  It was.  I felt so much better!  She said that they were calling this week for expired memberships.  What a relief!  The number that called me was this number, ext. 4422.  And the AAA number from their site that I called to check with was 800-765-0766

Received a call from 1-877-507-6369 saying that their triple A and want to collect money for. The new year starting April  15 2015 they wanted my charge card number so I gave it because they said I recently needed assistance for road assistance for my wife which she needed.

This is a legitimate number for  AAA.  They left a voice mail telling me that my credit card on file was no longer valid so they could not renew my membership (BTW a voice mail is also a good sign that the call is legit.)  However I did as Mindi did and I called them (AAA) back to ensure someone wasn't using their legit number in a 'spoofing' or 'phising' scam.  Unfortunately that's what you need to do these days to be safe.

The caller ID showed up as Unavailable so I didn't answer it.  If it was AAA calling and they want their calls answered more often, they should ensure meaningful information is in the caller ID.

I receive  several calls from this number and on their last call they left the message "f**ing a**hole"

I could not imagine who would leave such a rude voice message so I dialed the number only to find out it was AAA!

    What the heck?

AAA doesn't have my cell phone number and we have never paid with a credit card, only checks so this whole thing sounds fishy if not entirely bogus, gave them no information.  If I renew my membership, I'll go to their "store" to do so.

You would be surprised how much information those data brokers have on you.
Do you get a lot of mail from AAA about vehicle insurance or life insurance?
    THEY KNOW.

After saying all of that, I was a member of AAA from 1976 to 2001, when I decided I didn't drive long distances enough to need it. After my membership expired, I got a calls during the day while I was asleep, and as the phone was far from the bed I could not wake up and get to the phone in time to find out who was calling me. Turned out it was AAA. I was irritated and told them I chose to end the membership and not to call me any more.

Then in 2008 when I was changing a flat tire in my own driveway, I realized I was getting too old to be changing tires in the rain on a busy Interstate like I have done a couple of times. So I joined again. Since then I have called for service for a tow and for locking myself out of my car. No complaints.

I agree with your comment about fishy and renewal. AAA is way out of line calling people and asking for payment by credit card, because of all the scammer frauds we have these days. It would be best that when AAA calls a previous member, they ask that person if he or she will renew by going to an AAA office or by another renewal notice sent by mail.

This was AAA calling about an expired credit card.  They wanted to auto-renew my membership.  I declined to give them my credit card number because they initiated the call.  But I called the customer service number on my AAA card, 800-441-5008, and they confirmed that my credit card information they had on file was expired.  It took only a minute to setup my new credit card info.

Even they called me again, I would STILL not give out a credit card number to someone who calls ME, for caller ID can be spoofed.  I always call THEM to be sure that I know to whom I am speaking!

Just got off the phone with the rudest AAA rep demanding I make payment or she would "cancel my membership."  If this is legitimately AAA they need to seriously retrain their workers on customer service.  I don't EVER release credit card info over the phone and informed her that I don't understand why they're demanding (she was extremely pushly) payment when I already paid in person.  I didn't catch her name but she replied, "I finna do some finding out what you saying." What kind of business hires someone that speaks to a customer like that?  Or even speaks like that in the first place?!  She kept repeating all of my former home addresses.  Not sure why... I said, "I have paid for my membership and received my card so I am terminating this conversation."

I'm not sure where the responder from oct 12, 2016 (k) got their info. Similar to other responders here, our AAA membership had expired a few days ago because of an invalid auto renewal cc on file. This caller left a message with a name, and info. on my account, and left a call back number with an extension number. When I called her back, she told me they were a special membership renewal department when I asked her why the number was different from the one on my bill. I went ahead and renewed with her, but wanted to verify that it was legit. I then called the AAA number on my snail mail renewal notice and was able to verify that the payment I just made via this number in question was being processed on my account. So it is LEGIT. AAA apparently does call people.

Yes, it is legit AAA. I suggested they list that number on the AAA card.

I verified that this is AAA calling me to renew my club membership. After I provided my information, I was able to see the transaction on the AAA website.

Very fishy.  Caller claims to be renewing my expired membership, and had access to the last 4 digits of an expired credit card, but not the valid credit card number I entered on aaa.com last week.  Offered repeated to take my new cc number of the phone, which I declined to do.  She hung up on me in a hurry after her last failed attempt.

All of the folks here that contacted AAA to verify that the number was legit did the right thing, but AAA was not being 100% truthful. That was a 3rd party collection company they contracted with to get us all to renew and NOT AAA themselves. For them to say, "yes, that's our special renewals department" is misleading at best and outright lying at worst. Only renew directly with AAA to best protect the integrity of your credit card information. If that 3rd party company hires lower quality employees than AAA would, those individuals may be the ones to steal your information and use it to defraud you.
