received a fax this morning from this place.... a girl that i work with decided to call to find out what the "catch" was.... we spoke to a girl name Robin... and when we asked what the name of the company was.. she mumbled it... and then we asked if they randomly pick companies to solicit--- and before we could ask what the deal was with the trips---she RUDELY was like "if you wanted your number off the list you should have left it on the voicemail" and hung up... nasty beast--- so i called back to speak to the manager--- but whoever answered the phone said she was the manager and fumbled over her words when i told her what happened.... never apologized and told me she would put me through to another agent.... i hung up on her while she was transferring me..... give me a break... its a huge huge scam!

Yet another junk fax from these same losers.  So much for filing complaints with the FCC and AG offices.

These scums are sending thousands of faxes (from USA and Mexico) even though your phone/faxes are registered with do not call registry. They know very well that ftc has introduced a fine of $11,000 per call but they are hidden in rat hole and shameless!

The type of SCAM they are operating:

These con artists know very well that they are ripping off money from innocent people and therefore you do not have to be gentle or polite with them.  Being kind to them will not work at all.  Asking respectfully to remove the name (though you have listed in do not call registry) will not work as they damn care for you.   Their goal is to scam and rip you off.  In million of faxes to USA and Canada, they do not provide any of their address, regular phone number and address.  They claim to have a website (once you call them) which is CHOOSECANCUN.COM (and many other names of similar sites). Such sites are dummy websites to make fool of you. Even within godaddy.com (WHOIS), or other domain providers, information to their company is missing.

Here are some of key highlights:

1. They send faxes as if your corporate’s Human Resources is sending such faxes to employees for legitimate vacations.

3. Once you call them, they will right away ask your bank information, credit card (master card of VISA), S.S.# and Debit card numbers.

4. If you ask some details, they will hung up or they will fool you by letting you know that they have a legitimate website like CHOOSECANCUN.COM, lowfarecancum.net, lowfarecancun.com, sales cancum.com etc….

6. One of their sale person disclosed some information by stating “ I am trained to convince a caller that we are doing legitimate business…  If  we succeed in a rip off, we am paid at least 50% of commission from the stolen money.  Rest of money goes to CEO and Mexican police (who are part of this scam) and the balance goes towards overhead expenses such as phone/fax costs.  We also operate from Florida but we are told to hide any address, and phone numbers.   We are told to convince as if we are doing a legitmate business from out of USA like Cancun, Mexico.  We understand that US laws has imposed a fine of $11,000 per telemarketing calls to those who are registered in DONOT CALL registry but we are untouchable in Mexico.  Owner of our company has fully trained and convinced us repeatedly by telling that only foreigners, lonely people, or dump and mentally restarted people are likely to become victim to our business as these people are easy pray in providing SS#, bank and credit card information without details or facts about legitimacy of our business.     Once such customers are duped, they do not know how to file a complaint with their credit card company.  In order to succeed fully, we do not offer vacation packages until 45 days.  Therefore, by the time customers finds out more about our scam, he/she is too late to file complaint to Credit Card Company.

7. Filing a complaint to FTC may or may not work.   Sales people have been told to be rude and intimidating once you act smart of ask more details.  They will hang up the call or they will use a bad language if you will ask their regular (non-toll free phone), their fax or address or they will give you fake address in Mexico.  Most of the time they will bore you by putting a long music.   One of agent even stated” US government has no jurisdiction about DONOT CALL registry in Mexicao and furthermore US does not have enough funds to locate or prosecute any of us in USA and Mexico”

What can you do?

1.    If you have provided your credit card information to them, file a complaint with your credit company ASAP to dispute the charges. Tell them that you are victim of scam and never authorized charges to this company.  File a complaint within days after you provided your credit card information.

2.    If you are bothered again and again about their faxes, call them at their toll free number and make enough fool of them.   Have a long discussion (have a fun too) by pretending as if you are a legitimate caller.  Act little dumb!!   Because will love to speak with dump persons - they believe that such people are more susceptible to such scams.    Thereafter, you may blast at them and yell at them…  If you call them from your office or corporate office, do not feel scared at all!!!  They will know you (from their caller ID), and they will try to repel you by threatening words like, “we have called the security of your office and you will be arrested by them soon…”   If you call repeatedly from home, they will scare you by saying, “we know who you are and we know your name, we will send thousands of faxes to you…” .   However, they are scared and handicapped to call you or bother you!

3.    By calling you, they know that they will be caught sooner as their phone and information will be displayed in your caller ID.  In a worst case, even if they will call you, it will be an unknown caller- to do so, they have to pay money equivalent to 60 cents to hide their phone.   Call them numerous times for fun and make their telephone bill too expensive to pay and make them bankrupt soon.  If possible, call them from public booths, because toll free cost will add 60 cents more from public phone call.   Call them at night when they have an answering machine. Sometimes, your night call will not be hung up (due to answering machine) and eventually, they will be billed enormously for toll free charges..  Remember, all your calls to them are compleely free as these are toll free calls.

I work in a medical office and we get this fax nearly every day! How did they get our number? We don't even have a travel dept! I called to see if it was real and the lady didn't even let me finish my sentance before putting me on hold! This is so dumb! I guess I'll try to call the owner? Has anyone had good luck with that?

do you really think that calling from a payphone is really gonna do anything? i mean some on lets be serious for a min A: these people are in a a/c filled room and your going to go stand out side at a payphone to call them B: your going to spend more of your money to make stickers to go around and post on pay phones! lol really i understand why your mad but come on people have some common sence it would be really stupid of you and trust me if you have time to go and stand outside at a pay phone for 30 to 45 min you need a vacation any way!

Thank you for the information. I received faxes about vacations every week.I usually throw them away but for some reason I became interested in a cruise. I am glad I decided  to look up this number before I wasted my time calling. I knew there had to be a catch to it.Once again thank you for taking the time to research the information.

If you want to make money off these scumbags do what I did. Save all your faxes. After you have 10 or more,buy a vacation package. When you get the bill on your credit card dispute it and your credit card company has to give you there company info. I also received package in the mail in 10 business days and there company info is in it. Now if you are on the "do not fax" list you can sue them for the maximum penalty. Your proof is all the faxes you have. I am currently sueing them. By the way when you dispute the charges you automatically get your original $315.00 back (cost of the vacation package). It's really very easy people. Let's get a class action law suit on their [***]!!!

Perhaps they've up and moved again. Their latest scam fax claims the same old thing (5 day Orlando vacation, 4 day Bahamas cruise, and round trip tix to choice of Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas, or Hawaii, for $99 a ticket). But here is their new toll-free number:

The header on the fax says it's from "Corporate Travel Department". If you look that up on Google, then you get all sorts of hits - but not anything that really warns you off.
The guy I talked to (Bobby, ext. 212) said that their company was called "Island Reef Travel" - which had (at the time) NO hits on Google. That was one of many warning signs that this was not legit.
He said their website was "www.discountmyvacation.com" and THAT had some hits - including a link to this site. That website is up but, curiously, includes no phone numbers, only an email contact.
It was funny talking to the guy, because he kept saying, "We have only a few tickets left!". What, you mean there's only so many people that you want to RIP OFF? How noble!

SCAM SCAM SCAM, people. Stay very far away. Unless you want to mess with them, of course. In that case, have fun!

I called and they identified themselves as Island Reef Travel. I spoke with James, whoc told me that after port fees and taxes, it would cost $315 for 2 people. He told me I must give notice that I want to use the package 45 days in advance, I had 18 months to go on all 4 vacations listed.  He also told me that the trip to Orlando included a 90 minute required resort tour.

The Better Business Bureau has posted over 729 complains against this company, and claims they are out of business.

STAY AWAY!

Note that when a sender of a fax does not identify the sender, it violates the Telecommunications Act of 1991.  There is a $500 penalty, subject to trebling.  Upon being certified as a class, it would be $1500 times the number of faxes that were sent.

The people who answer the phone refuse to provide the company's address.

The woman answering the phone claims that the company is a licensed Seller of Travel.  Yet cannot provide the license number.  The permit number is required to appear on any faxed advertisement.  Additional damages thus likely would be available under Florida State law (although I have not looked).

In short, if your brother-in-law is an attorney or your friend who moved to Florida is married to an attorney, tell them about the company and provide a copy of the fax.

Then you'll maybe able to retire to one of those warm places once the assets of the owner are traced.

You're an idiot who doesn't even know who stole your money ... do you think the scammers who took it run this site, or even read it? In the meantime you post your phone # on a public web site, so you should expect to get a lot more phone calls. And the crooks who stole your money have (correctly) identified you as an easy mark and will be sharing your contact info with their thieving friends.
