- LMAOthese people keep calling me on my cellphone at work and calling people I have listed as contacts. They have your information because you have applied for payday or auto loan or refinancing on your home. They buy your information from company's that supply prospects to smaller legit companys searching for prospective clients unfortunately some of the company's that purchase these list are bogus, like these fools calling. It used to be those funky hindu people now they have these ghetto black people calling so dont be fooled because they speak clear english. Dont give them your information like credit card numbers, they already have your social and last known address, relatives phone numbers and more than likely your employers number and other information that you would list on an application. I get all types of calls and texts from dirt bags like these so just be cautious!

http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/Business- ... rg-ny-235966363 - jm| 1 replyCalled my cell at work. Left a message stating that were a state processing mediation firm calling on a bad check and I did not call back they would process the case without my consent of knowledge. First of all a phone call can not take you to court you must be served in writing. I called back and got voicemail. This is a collection agency, not sure if bogus or not, trying to get money for something that is not legit. Beware, do not give out any information. Also, ask for something in writing, they have to send.

- Resident47 replies to jmI don't know how much more you need to be certain after being lied to about the caller's business, misled on the nature and legal status of your alleged debt, and wrongfully threatened with criminal process.
- Resident47Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "assessment specialists", "detectives", "investigators", "mediators", "mitigators", or "prelitigation specialists". They are sweaty double-talking criminals with a script full of coercive remarks. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal.
Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush. Early in that process you must be given a specific notice about your alleged debt and how to dispute it. From there, you have a right to obtain proof of claim *on paper*. Federal law does not expect you to take only the word of strangers on the phone that bad things are about to happen. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

FTC alert: "Fake Debt Collectors"
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Nancy morrisJust got a voice mail from 877-595-4320 saying they had something going on illegally using my phone number and I was to go them right back. There should be a law against this false theory just to get you to call. It's scary.

- Lex| 1 replyThe left a message. I called and they stated that I Owed some payday company money. when i tried to get info about the company they got all upset and started yelling at me saying that i had felony charges against me and even called ma a criminal. At this point i said i would make a payment and asked for forms of payment. The lady told me that that they only accept cash payments, that i needed to deposit the money into a bank of america account but she wouldn't give me the number. then she said that the only way i would get the number is if i was at the counter with the teller or wire transfer via cash. the lady tried to look for a locate BOA around me and asked for my zipcode. I told her if my file was in front of you with all my info then she should have the info on hand. Then they became irate when i asked for their address, and any other information about the company. Its a scam... they ask for cash so that they cant be traced.

- Alfalfa replies to LexThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you
.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- AnonymI just called them back and spoke to someone. After I told her to never call my number again or I will be the one bringing them to court for harassment and it will be done legally, she told me to calm down. Of course that set me off and I said a few choice words she hung up... but not before I could hear the background of where she was... it wasn't a call center. Sounded like she was calling from her residence! Heard a tv and it sounded as though she was walking. I DARE them to call me back again!!! They've been harassing me for over a year and refuse to prove any debt they state I owe! They said I should have that information and they refuse to send me anything! GET A REAL JOB LOSERS!!!

- EstraCT| 1 replyThey are a scam. They said that there only method of payment is through CASH deposit at a bank of America teller. Its a scam, they said that they only deal with cash which is unheard of. THey even said that they only hold the files for only 3hrs its been 12 days since they last called me... now if that doesn't prove that they are a sham idk what will. They called to try and convince me to pay $1300 today in cash. when i told them that i would not pay, they began to threaten calling me a criminal and saying that I would be picked up off the street and thrown in Jail. Then

- DelanaI just received calls from 877-595-4320 a few days a go. I knew that I didn't have any illegal credentials against me, so it was amusing. The lady called with these accusations, and from my experience; if a creditor is going to call you. They are usually more professional and will leave you with an account number reference to call them back that is connected to you. I called the lady back and I could here in the background (like a Call Center) with all these so called- prosecutors yelling out to customers of their evil-doings. It's a shame people try to scam others for money, and I told her, if she was going to prosecute- to do what you need to do, but I was not going to confirm any of my credentials to her. She hung up.
