- RVZ| 1 replyStephanie from Process Dispatch Department struggling to get through a threatening message about legal proceedings if I don't call back. No company name given or what the call is about, just threats of legal action if I don't call back. No way it's a legit company. Either a scammer or bottom feeder with a fake debt or one so old it's well past SoL.

- RawithVMsg from Tyra Process Services to contact Customer Service 877-629-0145 regarding delivery (?) with case number. Recording can not be made without my knowledge. The person spoke so fast plus background noise made it difficult to follow. Called the number and it rang several times before being answered Hackman (?) Law Firm. I sat on the line silent then professional tone turned to slang. Then I disconnected.
- Caller: Hackman Law Firm?

- GRRRSame spiel and probable scam. Very official sounding with phone number and "case number". But, without ever receiving anything in the mail about any legal action against me, this has to be a scam to defraud people out of money. Do not call back or provide any personal information.

- JohnThis is a junk debt buyer that cycles through phone numbers and harasses people who either have paid off debts or charged off out of statute debts. If you speak with them kindly tell them no longer contact you again. It would be in your best interest to record the conversation if you can so you have evidence to support it. You dont need an fancy app to record either simply use another phone or a computer and put your one phone on speakerphone and the recording phone or computer near by. If by any chance they say something threatening report them to the police. The gentleman I spoke with said I had a feminine voice and that I should kill myself or he would be happy to do so. To me that warrants a call for the local PD. Which I did and reported the conversation and provided the recording to the local PD. The only way this is going to stop is if people do something about it. Also they will not give you any information about where they are nor will they give you legitimate business name. They are operating within a grey area of the law, however they often step over that line. These people belong in jail and heres hoping they get their comeuppance.

- Heidi| 1 replyThey had lots of info on me and I fell for it. I answer restricted # to be informed that they have been trying to serve a summons. I think it's legit because some has been coming to my house asking for me during the day when I'm at work. I call 877-629-0145 which is Heckman Legal Services with the case # given to me and it's about debt from years ago. I don't have proof I paid it off, but they have dates for court, personal info, and I panic. I set up a payment plan to pay a discounted monthly amount. I signed a document but didn't have a way to save it. I don't know what I signed. They caught me at the worst time possible and I didn't have a chance to investigate them. Make sure to Investigate!! I tried to look them up by the name given and I can not find a company by this name.

- BigA replies to HeidiThat is a heck of a story. These people don't show up at your house. They are cowards, they do everything over the phone. They hide in virtual offices not real brick and mortar ones. Well you were scammed. You didn't read this document before you signed it?
- BigAIt is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
