- AKLCalls to say they have questions for my final deposition in my court case sheduled. Also that i will be served at my place of business or home in the next 24 to 48 hrs. If at my place of business i will need a security officer or manager present as a witness.
- IER| 3 repliesI also received a call stating that I needed to provide a statement for my court case. I do not have a court case! It was a message from a gentleman who claimed he was from M&K Associates. He never said who he was leaving the message for.
- Alfalfa replies to IERThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- SG1234| 1 replySame as IER above - I also received a call stating that I needed to provide a statement for my court case. I do not have a court case! It was a message from a gentleman who claimed he was from M&K Associates. (also called it Miller and Clark Firm...wouldn't that be M & C?!?!) I googled it and couldn't find either "firm" in existence. He never said who he was leaving the message for....and said a package was to be signed at my residence or place of work (but didn't provide an address). Then a SECOND call a few minutes later by another gentleman who said that I my last message "served as notice."
I am going with SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!! and refuse to call back (you never know what hidden charges are tied to a number!)- Caller: M & K firm?
- IGThis number keeps on calling a public school in town that I used work at. They say they have papers against me and received a fax with legal documents on my name. I just wish they stop calling this school, it is a violation to anyone's right.
- Caller: M&K Associates
- cbthis number called my cell phone and a woman said she had just received a fax from my county saying that they had papers to serve me. I get these calls almost every day and they are scams since the info they give me is on things ive never had,. Never give them any personal information over the phone as they are probably scammers.
- jm| 1 replyReceived many calls about an old loan that I know was paid off. Said they were calling from Miller and Clark firm. Said I had a court date, and if I didn't pay over the phone right then and there, they were going to send a private investigator to find me, threatened to arrest me and suspend my drivers license. I have since received 2 calls from people who want to serve papers at my place of employment. Funny thing is, when you call the number back, there IS NO business name attached to the greeting....very strange. I have an attorney helping me with this.
- Caller: Miller and Clark firm
- Call type: Debt collector
- ABHave the same type calls from this number. Given 24 hours to return the call to avoid being served papers on a law suit.
I assumed it was a scam...this site verified that. Thanks.- Caller: unknown

- IB| 1 replyThey call every day. Don't say who they are trying to reach only that there is a scheduled court date and they need a final statement before then. That I should call them. I've looked them up a few times and all of the sudden there is a site where your only option is to pay them. No account number needed but your credit or debit card. According to the site, they've only been an LLC since 2012. So, they MUST be a real company with a long standing reputation. Driving me nuts! They've identified themselves 5 different ways so it's like they don't know if they are M&K Capital, M&K and Associates, Miller and Clark law firm... eh well, you get the idea. SCAM!
- Caller: M&K Capital and Associates

- Watchdog2 replies to cali123M&K is not a law office. It's a debt collection firm. Did you report this call to the FTC?
- Ellen V. replies to DgoddessDid you save the voicemails? Can you send them to me?
- Ellen V. replies to SG1234You're right; they are not a law firm.
Calling someone on the phone does not constitute legal service.
stopnandg.blogspot.com - Ellen V. replies to IBWhat five different ways? We'd love to have them all.
stopnandg.blogpot.com - Peggy Webster| 1 replyThis number called my place of employment and my daughter and said that I needed to call and give a statement before a court date. Said I needed to call the Plaintiff and give them my statement and that if they didn't hear from me it would be marked as a denial and used against me. They never said who they were just left a number to call. The number went to NCS offices and they kept trying to get a credit card number from me.
