Hello... I got a call from this company and a lady told me that I had a legal matter in the office. It was for a auto loan that I did not pay back from 2008. The lady told me I could pay the bill or I would have to go to court. I have not paid the bill and today someone came to my job to serve me some paper work. My question is, If I just call the company back and pay the dame bill ....will I still have to go to court?

Well, first you have to give us a little more information.
You said you were given some paperwork.
If that is true, you should be able to give us the information at the top of the summons, since it is now "public information".

Give us the court name and location,  the name of the judge, the plaintiff's attorney's name and Bar number, and the name of the company or person that is suing you, the date you are supposed to appear, and possibly a docket number.

Can you do that, to prove your statement?

I betcha you can't.  You didn't even give the physical and web address of the company that uses this phone number, so we could check their validity.

Do not bother to return and argue these points, unless you can provide the data I requested.

Wow, I think you are trying to "muddy the waters" here with some vague information about paperwork from an unnamed company regarding a six year old auto loan from an unnamed company.

If you don't mind me asking, who was the Plaintiff on the paper work? Shills R US LLC?

    Fake
This company is completely bogus. They call and say that they are calling in accordance with federal law and need to resolve this complaint and you must pay right away. They then will tell you the last four digits of your social security number and pity the poor fool that gives this information. TOTAL FAKE!

They call themselves the department of arbitration of Smith Hearst (Hurst?) and Associates.  They say they are in New York.  Unable to find any reference to any such organization.

Odd.  If you didn't pay the auto loan, wouldn't the lienholder  have repo'd the vehicle then?  In 2008?

If they repo'd the vehicle and they couldn't sell it for what you owed, wouldn't they have come after you in 2008?   Why would the lienholder wait five years or so to try to recoup the losses, if any?

Fact is, you didn't get a call from anyone.   You work for this so--called company.  This Smith Hearst whatever doesn't really exist, but you're trying to establish it as a ongoing debt collection outfit by posting this garbage.  It was a stupid attempt.  Most people here know how auto-repo works.

You people are kitchen-table debt scammers, working out of a run-down small town somewhere in New York state, home of the debt scammers.

New York is a Mecca for debt scammers.

Who, exactly, do you think you're fooling.

I got a call from this number today, said they were from some Check Recovery Service company. Spoke to some guy that said he was a Detective and this was about a payday loan that I don't have. They asked what time I would be working until, never gave them an answer, so the guy supposedly told one of his guys to go ahead and serve me the paperwork as I was at work. Kind of hard to do when they did not even verify the address of my employer. I have asked them to stop calling me at work, legally they have too, correct?

This is so troubling.  I feel so bad for the people that actually fall for this crap.  Yesterday, this guy called me at work, left a message giving detailed information about a supposed outstanding debt I had, with a co-worker.  Embarrassing. I called him back because I didnt want calls at work to continue.  He was very pleasant and almost believable.  The outcome of the call was pay a small amount now to resolve the debt, or be served with papers and be sued for 3x the original amount.  He could not give me the name of the original pay day loan lender that I supposedly had the debt with.  He wanted bank account info that I wouldnt give him.  I told him that I would think on it and call him back today.  On the advice of an attorney friend of mine I will not be providing him with any bank info.  I will request paperwork through the U.S. mail, and offer to send a money order to an address he provides.  If he is unwilling to accept those terms, this is not legit.  My attorney friend said not to pay attention to the threats of check fraud, warrants issued for arrest, etc.  You cannot be sued criminally for a civil matter.  DO NOT SEND BANK ACCOUNT INFO TO THESE JERKS!

I received calls from this person yesterday on both my cell phone AND my house phone in the same day.  They left messages on both.  Filed a complaint with FTC and two other places where it is allowed.  DO NOT ANSWER these calls, once you answer it validates your number and a whole slew of others will follow.

Got a message saying "can't make a decision until I hear your side of the story" on some sort of contract breach. Called the number a guy answer the phone (Matthew) and said he works for the department of arbitration. He asked my phone number to verify the call, I gave him my number and he said he was going to have the number removed from "their" list. Minutes later somebody else called from the same number saying "what's up?" I think they were verifying my number. Then I realized I fell for the trap. Don't provide any info. My number is temp so I'll let it expire. Don't answer this calls.

I also got a call from this number saying that it was in regard to a breech of contract...etc. etc. similar to those who posted. I looked at their web site. Their description of "about us" is soooo wordy  and doesn't really SAY anything! Funny to read. Anyhoo, I looked at a photo that is supposed to represent one of their staff and decided to google the image. Turns out "andrew campbell" 's photo can be found in use for several magazine articles and such. HA HA!!! This guy is an actor who has sold his photos and his (rather cute) mug is found all over! So this is definitely a SCAM...don't fall for it!

I kept getting calls from.a Marsha Watson with a heavy accwnt from phone #415-993-1133. That number could not be verified.  She became irritated with me because I refused to pay a payday loan she said I had in 2012. She couldn't tell me the name of the lender. She refused to send me any documentation by mail to prove this was my debt. She has given me two different numbers to call for a "settlement" agreement before it goes to court.  Now this morning I get a call from this number stating she wants to hear my side  of the story before it goes to court. I find it interesting that no one  will provide me  this proof of debt. Has anyone been served papers as a result of this company calling you?  I still think they are scammers. They will stop at nothing to collect your hard earned money

This  lady said I owed for medical expenses in 2010.  I knew that I had paid everything in full then.  She would not tell who was sueing me because of HIPPA.  I needed to pay today a sum of $214.  She wouldn't even tell me what state she was in.  Said she was an arbetraitor from SHA & Associates  and the law firm that was sueing was Cartelli Attorney at Law.  This scared me because I had been sick in 2010.  I told her I never received a bill and she said it was a "Breach of Contract" suit and it need to be resolved today.  NUTS.  I looked up all references and found notta.  So Googled phone number and found out it was a scam.

This company has been calling me 2-3 times per week for the past three weeks and continues to say that I have a breach of contract and that I need to call them to pay for the debt. This is absurd, I have never done anything illegal and do not have oustanding bills. This is definitely a SCAM!
