Sent a text started off saying "Hi Fam"

Text addressed to Barbara

This message was about a valentine gift for a friend saying get this new mosquito repellent. I googled the phone # and it brought up this request for info. Did you receive a call or get a message from this #. 877 644 1601.  It had a long computer address. I do not know who or why this came on my message page

Well, unless that person is reporting that they sent a text to Barbara, which wouldn't make any sense, then they received a text from this number.  A little common sense and thinking would tell you that.  I don't see any posters requesting info in here either.

Received text message:  (My first name), Isn't it time you replaced that outdated leather bifold? Upgrade to the slimmer, smarter, and safer Karben wallet today and save!

A website was listed after the text message. When I got on my PC, my malware software blocked me from going to the website.

How did they get my name and number??

I just got this exact text message.  I typed in the website on my PC and it does take you to a site where you can buy a wallet.  Obviously we're on a "mailing" list somewhere.

Didn't open the text, but the preview said "Hel, (not even the right name) isn't it time you replaced ..."

Sent text with link: tine to replace that old bifold wallet??

Got same message I just deleted and blocked
