I received a phone call today from an *UNKNOWN* number that later transfered me to the 877-700-6215 number. They called my cell phone number. This is a company called: LAF. They say that I wrote a bad check back in 2005 and now I am being sued!!! He says I am being sued $1,500. The guy was very aggresive and not polite. He says that if I didn't deal with the situation now, I would be taken to court. I told him that i wanted this on paper and asked to please mail it to me. He offered to email it to me, but asked me for my email. I told him no. Then he asked me for my mailing address, and I told him no, he should have that information...and hung up. Has anybody else received this call?? I am freaking out!!! I have never written a bad check in my life!!! My credit report is great...and I am afraid someone has information about me...including the last 4 digits of my SS#!!!! :-( Who do I call to report this?

We got the same phone call. We got surprise AZ police involved.  Do not give them any personal info!

I asked to speak to management and was told you were management.  I also asked for all documentation to be faxed to me but you refused.  I called the bank and they stated they do not do business the way you were conducting yourself by being harassing and asking for credit card information and the security code of card.

I just got a harassing call as well I got my local police dept involved. The police told me that we should all contact our local police departments. Also if they are the "bank" or whoever this POS says he is, they would have my info and not be asking me. Also all "lawsuits" would come with documentation, something this pathetic lying loser refuses.  We are all in to you game d*ck! I can't believe you actually had the balls to respond to this.

I got a call from this number too. I just checked this legal asset company.  The web says they are medical collections want hat makes no sense if they say I wrote a bad check and they had reports of scams on that site as well.

received a message from a number but was informed to call 877-700-6215 and given a case #. called , it was answer "law office" funny then got a guy named "peter, phil something along that line. He said there was a litigation out for me, when I asked him about it, he said it was in his office. I then asked for all documentation to be sent to me via email. He said is your social and gave last 4 of my # I said yes, he goes well you have the information. I replied no please email to me. He then said it was mailed(us mail) you know what this is about. Funny as I have received these types of calls before all along the same lines. They can never give you information, state it was already mailed, name some bogus company you owe to(payday cc etc). When you inform them you never had a loan from that company they get very rude. I stated I knew what they were up to, and I had informed my local authorities. then they call back immediately from different numbers but never leave a message.

If we are in error then we have no problem in correcting the issue. You must be able to provide proof. Writing on this public forum will not resolve the problem.

You mean YOU have to provide proof.  You are just an employee of the scammers, and deserve to go to jail.

Legal asset is a legitimate company and has reasons to call.  If you owe money to a creditor, they have reasons to collect.  If you fail to pay them, then your account goes into collections, and the collections company will call to collect.  Either way, you still owe the money so you need to pay.  I owed, I paid, case solved.  every one happy, no one gets harrassed

Do not listen to Law Asset Financial Group! They are full of crap. No lawsuit is pending, never was. The guy Phillip said his attorney Eric Papp was filing charges against me. Eric Papp is a real lawyer, and I contacted his firm about this alleged lawsuit. They didn't seem to know anything about this. I also asked for a verification of my debt, which was never sent. They MUST show you verification of debt in order to collect from you. If you ask for it, they must present it. This Phillip guy kept saying he would send it, but never did.

"Phillip" was my contact throuhgout this ordeal but sometimes I would call and get his "assistant" who sounded EXACTLY like the Phillip guy.

I have filed a complaint with the FTC in regards to this matter and will be contacting the California Attorney General. Also, because this company threatened me with a lawsuit if I don't pay up, they are using extortion tactics. Also because they contacted me on a cell phone, they could potentially face Federal charges as cellular calls are regulated by the Federal Government.

Do not respond to these people, nor give them your card information. They are low-level scum.

I don't understand if a company is a scam then they are a scam and need to be dealt with but if you owe money legally, then you need to pay because you are the person commiting the scam or a scum bag and running on the internet saying a company is a scam for calling and collecting on a legal debt is being a scum bag.  That is why our economy is going to heck we are a debtor nation allowing consumers to commit fraud on banks and other companies by borrowing and not paying back and when confronted by someone asking you to pay back what you owe you take to the internet and try to sully their name.  you all will be in trouble when lenders stop lending love fico and the credit reporting agencies
