Latino American Who's Who fax number.  Our office gets thier application via fax all the time.  Annoying and have asked them to remove our number.  I think its a scam.

Same junk fax as the rest of you folks.  Usually the who's who junk faxes are presidential who's who, the latino one is new to me.  Like MTL previously posted, file FCC complaints as this is a scam.

Of course it is a scam, why else would they send out junk faxes with no real indication of origin?  The promise, from their perspective, is that you will sign up for a plaque, buy a copy of the book, and otherwise send them money.

Today's is ``Latino'', which seems odd with my background, but I guess we can figure out how carefully they vet their candidates.  Will they stop junk faxing?  Probably not.

One change is a slight variation in the ``remove'' number, is now 866 881 4843.  Not sure if there is anyone out there dumb enough to believe that these are legitimate.

As of August 2011 they indicate they are "The Heritage Registry of Who's Who."  They flatter you by indicating they select "individuals who have attained a recognizable degree of success" even though they apparently send this to every fax number they get a hold of.

They indicate there are no dues or fees to be listed.  But there are.  There are dues and fees for your listing to be "shown."  And then there is major pressure to buy the book and other products.  And they keep calling your to solicit once they have your phone number.

Their "remove" number is 866-881-4843.  As we all know, the remove number is really a junk fax service that verifies your fax number is real.  When you call them to remove your number, they have proof that your number is real and working.  So you will end up getting more junk faxes and wondering why.  The more you call the "remove" number on any junk fax, the more junk faxes you will get.

I'm with the rest of you got this 2 days in a row; same phone as above.  Figured it was another 'vanity' spam.  I have made FCC complaints as one other poster mentioned, and at least for a while it seemed to help.  Good Luck!

Reporting these criminals does no good. As long as they don't harass govt offices, and do pay the right people, they are allowed to target and harass law abiding citizens as much as they want.
Until the right person or group of people come along and take out these scammers, nothing will change. Hopefully their day of reckoning will be sooner rather than later--and their removal will serve as an example to other criminals that seek to scam good, honest people.

Fax it back with contact info for people at the fcc, and maybe people in your state government as well. Until they are directly affected like the rest of us, no government department or agency is going to do anything to stop this. Maybe once a state department office starts getting 5+ scam faxes a week, they will do something about it. For now, it is up to the people that are being bothered to stop these criminals in whatever ways are most effective, painful, and permanent.

Too funny.  Check out their web site:

    http://www.theheritagewhoswho.com

Click on the link for Directory and you will see a list of the unfortunate souls who could not resist the prestige of being listed in their scam directory.  I clicked on a few names to see where these folks were educated, employed, etc.

After checking out half a dozen "profiles" it seems clear that no one with any common sense is listed.  My favorite is a Mr. Douglas Scott who is (proudly) listed as the General Manager of Jiffy Lube #2364 categorized under category AUTO REPAIR, SERVICES, AND PARKING

Oh, Mr. Scott I hope you learned your lesson...and CONGRATULATIONS on being selected!

I'm surprised their shills haven't shown up here proclaiming how their careers took off after being listed. Seriously. The Montclair "who's who" (another of these ripoff schemes) tried to scam me for months. When I searched the web I found plenty of warnings about them and the discussions invariably included one or two obvious shills.

You are so right! This is the same company once called "ENTERPRISE WHO'S WHO", fake yellow pages and internet website. They obtain information about you and your company then bill you for a certain amount of money. They make frecuent calls in menacing attitude. This is a scam company. You call them and they rarely answer, you usually have to leave a recorded message. Their postal address is fake; I even bet their names are fake. You get calls from a -Ana Garcia or Lissette Cabrera, they're also male markerters too. This LATINO AMERICAN WHO'S WHO, has a fax that appear to be from Mexico. We start getting their calls in the month of april. Same modus operandi. They are one bunch of S.O.Bs
