- Charles MayerI returned a phone call on 8/26/2016 that said the IRS was suing me for money that I owed them for unpaid taxes and there would be a warrant filed for my arrest if I didn't take care of the matter immediately and pay them over $2300 that they claimed I owed the IRS. They also said that they had mailed me paperwork that I had never received and confirmed a different address. She also told me that I would need to go to a local Walgreen's today and purchase an electronic payment card to send her the full amount owed. The number she told me to call was 877-719-4201 extension 114 and ask for Ms. Stephanie Robbins when I arrived at Walgreen's. She also told me that I should not discuss the matter with anyone and that the call was being recorded and forwarded to the courts. The woman I spoke to had an Indian accent and sometimes it was hard to hear her. That call sounded very fishy so I looked up the number and found this website to report it.
- Caller: Internal Revenue Service
- MariaI missed answering a call and they left a message on my answering machine. The robotic voice said they were the IRS and the reason for the call was to tell me that the IRS was suing me and that I need to return the call to 877-719-4201. I remember reading about IRS scams in AARP so I am reporting this here.
