This is a toll-free number given when called from 602-443-2920.

This company seems to be cold calling anyone of the same name or same initials as the person whom they are seeking.

I get multiple calls a week from this company. They are very cryptic and change up their style almost each time. Sometimes it is automated, sometimes it's a person leaving a message, sometimes they leave their extension and sometimes not. They never give any more information than that. Oh, and when they do ask for someone at the number, it's the wrong name.

These people called my work number and said they were "collecting money" when they couldn't get through to me they asked for my companies payroll number - when I called them back they said they were from the dept of education!  Too freaky - I don't owe anyone money and it's offensive and harrassment to call my work number this way!  Especially when I DON'T owe anyone money.

Caller called and asked for payroll dept. Said he must garnish wages on an individual.  When I asked for him to varify who he was and send me a court order on Garnishment, he became irate.  I called the number back and was told they didn't know who I was talking about.  From what I have found this company has a reputation of Harrassment.

This company has been calling me for months! They ask for a fictitious person and become angry when I tell them that no one is here by that name. They NEVER leave their name or tell me what they want. The funny thing is that they tell me they have spoken to this non existent person at my number!! Scam, scam scam!!! When they call tell them that this is phone harrassment, and if they call back one more time you will begin proceedings against them. This is what I was told to do by a police officer. Also notify your state's attorney general about this phone scam. I called their number today, after they left 2 messages for this non existent person, and no one answered; but they wanted me to leave my name and phone number. The person who called me was Amber, a place called the "Collect Group" was mentioned, and also mentioned was a Mr. Selargasso (I don't know if this is the correct spelling). This is a racket and a scam meant to extort money from people who are elderly and forgetful, or people who are frightened of the authorities and will pay money in order to not "rock the boat".

Called and asked for my payroll dept. He (Justin or Shawn--he changed his name during the phone conversation) said that he will garnish my wages for loan collection.  When I asked for him to send me the info through the mail , he became angry.  He also asked for my checking account info. From researching on the web what I have found is that this company has a reputation of Harrassing people.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT INFO!!

I had a voicemail at work today from someone named Larry who was calling in regard to a "personal business matter."  He then went on to say that it was about a car loan I had started through them.  He did not identify who "they" were.

I paid my car off in 2004, so I have no idea what he was referring to.

"Mr. Higgins" called and left a message about a "business application" that he wanted to "help" me with.  Said it was a Federal Government matter and it was important that I call him back.  Seemed too fishy b/c my business has not applied for anything and we do not have any debt outstanding - personal or business.

One... Yes there are some in experience people that work there but for the most part there are just trying to help help get out of fedreal default... Becasue one, being  in fedral default, the gov can offset your taxes... and also garnish your wages up to 15-25% ... So, is there a point in running from the gov... umm i guess not because they get there money one way or the other

Has been calling my fiance.  He talked to them today and the guy said they would file suit and garnish wages for student loan default - LOL, fiance quit high school.  I called and gave same name - asked about birth year (not a match) and last 4 digits of SSN (not a match).  Gave story about loan and I said had full scholarship (I did) and not to call me again.  He apologized and said they wouldn't (we'll see - did that last year).  I told him future corresponce should be through postal service, at which he hung up.

They called my parents, wouldn't leave a full name and said, "They hadn't heard from me in awhile and wanted to get back in touch with me." My parents have learned to not answer these types of calls. And by the way, my credit is impecable. So this strikes me very oddly. From reading the reported comments, it sounds like the Nigerian Scam that keeps morphing and changing techniques when people are on to them.
Don't fall into the trap. My mother tried to call the nos, back and didn't put a reverse phone block on it, and they said, "IS THIS IN REGARDS TO KENNY". So be very careful, whoever this group is....

Look, if these jerks were legitimate, they'd tell you what they're calling about - specifically - and you would also receive written notice in the mail.  The fact that they constantly change their stories, are vague abd shifty about what they want, and try to induce hysteria with nonsense about garnishing and sheriffs and "federal matters" etc., indicates they're scumbag debt collectors.  If it were the federal government, which isn't known for its subtlety, they wouldn't make cryptic calls or vague threats or refuse to identify themselves or play telephone tag - they'd do something and you'd d*mn well know it that would be that.  And please ignore the posts above from supposedly "happy" people who just think the world of these friendly wonderful collectors - THEY'RE TROLLS, PROBABLY WORKING FOR SAID COLLECTOR and every site exposing the antics of these lowlifes is infested with such posts - though most are not as transparently phony and laughable as the two above (12/20 & 10/31).  BELIEVE NOTHING WITHOUT PROOF - they say they're from the federal government and it's of utmost importance because that's what will get your attention fastest - demand validation of alleged debt IN WRITING and proof of the caller's claim to be an agent of the government IN WRITING: NAMES/PHONE NUMBERS/DATES/ACCOUNT NUMBERS/DOLLAR AMOUNTS, everything.  Unless they're willing to provide it, and without a lot of hassle, chances are you're dealing with one of the hundreds of crummy debt collection agencies that prey on people daily and that means you can safely and conscientiously ignore them.

My mom received a phone call on her cell phone from these freaks last week.  They asked for me and my mom said this isnt her number, can I help you?  The man who said his name was James Brown, told my mom that he was a friend of mine and asked if I had finished school at a local tech school (which I never attended or thought of attending), he also asked where I was working at.  My mom didn't give him any info.  She hung up on him and he called back. A week later (yesterday) he called my mom's cell number again and this time said it was an important matter.  IF this was a real collector, they would be able to find my home phone number!!  Anyways, I called the number today, and I gave Jesse(notice a different name) the case # he left on the message last night, and he asked me if this was my name, and I said yes.  He then asked if 0612 was the last 4 digits of my SSN.  I said no, and gave him no other information.  He then went on to tell me that this matter was about me being in default of my student loan.  (which I am not) I figured it was a scam to begin with, and I immediately threatened to call the states attorneys office, and no sooner did he hang up.  I did call the local states attorneys office, which they told me to follow up with the police.  I called the police and they suggested I even contact the local FBI office, so I did. The FBI also suggested to call the Attorney General fraud hotline.

They have not stopped hounding my husband's cell phone for weeks, with a message: "It is urgent that you call if you want to keep your job, this is a federal matter, and serious issues will be brought against you"....blah blah blah.   I finally called back yesterday, blocking my number.  Fraud this is.  When you call, there is no clue who you are calling and they let you know your call is being recorded.  When the party answered, I asked who the h*ll I was calling and they said, "Collect Corp".  I asked what kind of place this is and why the secret of who they are.  No answer.  I asked for the lady's extension that was left on my phone...some Ms. Baker, X8680.  She answered and I asked what are they collecting!  She said, "What is your phone number?"  I said, "None of your business."  She then said, "What is your ss #?"  I hung up in her ear.  After reading these posts, I now know it has to do the some Dept. of Ed. student loans.  Haha....we have none...we're 60 yrs old!   No kids with loans owed either.  Be careful.  The Federal Government will never leave a message on a cell phone, nor will they call you about a matter without first giving you notification of a possible pending issue via US Mail.  If you do call the Fed. Government, the party you speak to answers with an operator identification number.  You also know immediately it's the Fed. Government when you call in the first place...no bogus messages.  I know because I work for the US Government.

Same goes for the Department of Education.  If you have not been notified by the Dept. of Education that you are in default of a student loan, then you are NOT in default.  You would certainly be notified via US Mail of any outstanding issues.  No morons will call you and threaten you by cell phone, as they have attempted to do to us.

I am reporting this to the FBI, the NYC Police Dept, and the State Attorney
    General's office.

The company you work for agreed to the garnishment. They can/could have put up a fight about it. Only you know your company's corporate culture and how valuable you are to them such that you might ask that they cease the garnishment, unless forced to reinstate it.
