- Dale| 15 repliesI don't know who called. Anyone else received a call from this number?
- DBgot several calls from phone Number 877-719-8300 The message said it
was in regards to activity on a SEARS Card. We don't have a SEARS CARD!- Caller: None
- 877-719-8300Suspect scam. Automated call. They said that they were trying to verify recent activity on a Sears Credit Card. Tried to get credit card information which they would have already had if it were legit.
- Office Dog| 1 replyRecording same as above: "Suspect scam. Automated call. They said that they were trying to verify recent activity on a Sears Credit Card."
- Call type: Unwanted
- SmileyI received two phone calls from them. I went to Sears and the number is not on their site. They have not called for several days, if it was real I would have gotten more calls left on my machine. I plan on not calling them back, it does appear to be a scam.
- gus| 1 replyI got the call too. It was alarming to me because of 3 things. 1) I never activated my card 2) When I called back it asked if I was calling from some number and so it didnt pick up my correct caller id and it asked me to verify my phone number - strange 3) and thirdly the next thing that happened was that it asked for my last 4 digits on my account. I entered the wrong digits here just because I didnt trust it. Then it told me it couldnt find my account information so it said it would transfer me to a customer service person. Well the transfer never happened...it hung up on me. So I called Sears (the number on the back of my card). And I told them my concern. They told me it was valid. I told them to fix their system because it sucks and reaks of scam. They verified that someone tried to charge about $1000 in air travel. I cancelled my credit card and told them to close the account. Seems to me like Sears needs to fix their crappy system and they need to post this number on their website. I can't caution everyone to careful enough. This day when credit theft is prevalent you have to look out. Don't take my word for this....just call the number on the back of your card instead. Don't use Sear's crappy automated system.
- Caller: Sears
- Call type: Unwanted
- Cindy replies to gusI also called the credit card company. Mine was not activated either and someone tried to use it also but they declined it. I cancelled mine also
- Robyes called me and no one was there I did use my sears card the other day to get a discount they offered on a product I wanted. after reading all these posts that's what is must be but again there was no one there!
SYSTEM sucks and Sears wonders why not many people shop there...- Caller: sears
- Laura| 1 replyI got a call from this number. I never answer calls I can't identify by Caller ID; I assume if it is important and legitimate they will leave a message. This one did leave a message, saying it was about activity on my Sears Card. I never call back stuff like this without researching first, by signing in to my credit card account's online management system.
(By the way, I'd highly recommend anyone with a credit card or other financial arrangement to get the online access if it is available.)
If I get a call stating something about a particular card, I first check it out online before calling back. If I DO call back, I always call the customer service number listed on the card or contact information on the website, NOT the number given in the suspected scam message, if it is different.
In this case, I had recently received a new card to replace the expired one, but I had not activated it, as I intend to pay off this card and close the account. That's another reason I suspected a scam.
When I got to the site, It so happened I had a message which was unrelated, and I called the ACTUAL customer service number (which was not the one the caller gave) to clear that up.
Sometimes, credit card companies do call to check on activity if you've recently had a large purchase or change in your usual pattern. But be on the safe side -- check it out online first, and only call the customer service number on your card or the website. - DavidI do have a Sears card, but to be safe I called their customer service number that appears on my bills, not this number. They confirmed that they had called me and left a message. There was a $450 item that had been charged recently, and they wanted to be sure it was legit.
- notquitestupid replies to DaleI also do not have a Sears card. I called the number back and told them. I asked the guy who answered what kind of scam they were trying to pull. He assured me that they were connected to Sears. I told him that I doubted it and told him to make sure they never called me again, he took down my first name and number and assured me that was the last time.
- hiloI received a call about credit card activities. I called this number and suspected a scam. I then called the number on the back of my credit card. I gave them the 877 number and they verified that this is the number from their fraud dept. Someone had accessed my credit card and attempted to charge almost $16,000. If you have a Sears credit card, I would recommend that you call this number back. They saved me a big hassle!
- 877-718-8399 ext2I too received a call from this number. Being paranoid, I also called the 800 number on the back of the Sears card to verify.
It was legit. Automated fraud alert system for Sears CC.- Caller: Sears
- Call type: Unwanted
- jimLegitimate call that I did not answer. As others have done I called the number on my card. There was a an unauthorized charge on my card by Net Zero. Cancelled that card and am getting a new one.
Glad I checked this website. - ScottCall about recent activity on my sears card. Asked for my zip code. I hung up. Tried calling back, could not get a real person. Just automated service. Looked up credit phone numbers on Sears website and this was not one.
- doormold replies to Dale| 3 repliesThis number, 877-719-8300, is legit. I just tried to use my Sears Card for travel (which I have never done before) and the system called to verify that I was in fact using the card myself and that it hadn't fallen into enemy hands. Very proactive and that is good news!
- RickI also received a call from this number. The automated system correctly said my full name and the last four digits of my Sears card in the message. I was also suspicious until I read this discussion thread. I called back the number I was given. It was an automated system that answered. I went through a series of questions. It verified the number I was calling from, my name, the last four digits on my card number, and asked for my zip code. Then it informed me of the suspicious transaction, which was for an airline ticket that I had NOT purchased. I was transferred to an operator, who deactivated my account and will be sending a new card in the mail. She verified my address. I'm glad I called.

- BDYeah I got a call from the same number and it is apart of their 800 protection service. I had trouble with my Sirius Radio account which ended up declining my card (fraud protection feature for a small upgrade charge). I didn't call back the number they provided on the message but the number on the back of my card and explained to the rep that I recieved a call from this number (which she wasn't aware of) and figured it was you guys calling (as I knew of the card issue the day before)She looked into it and verified that there was a small issue that we easily cleared up (Sirius had the wrong expiration date when they ran the charge through) However as a rule of thumb I always call the number in the back of the card and find out if there is an issue that way (being a one time victim of ID theft) as the last time Sears called for a potential fraud matter they shut the card off when I was in line at Best Buy...totally embarrassing...lol. Not sure why they would call non-cardholders however.
- Nicole replies to Office DogIt is sears, I charged a couple a rather large item and we have early fraud warning with them. Within an hour of making the charges and trying to charge something online when I got home it rejected the charge until I verified I had made charges.
- Mike replies to DaleYes this is a valid number. I had a small charge on my card that I did not make and they called to verify it. I called the number on the card and they said it was a valid number. Nice to know they are tracking the activity on my card. Someone tried to use my number in the middle east for coffee.
