    I am getting the same kind of calls from this number.  A recording leaves a badly constructed robotic message about an account number and something about them making a decision without input from me.  I have no idea what this is about!  I called the number and the person answering said "Legal Prevention Services."  I hung up because I am at work and can't discuss this right now.

    This people admitted to buying an old lead list.  They do not have accurate information and are threatening and abusive.  Tell these people to send it in the mail with proof of the debt and to not call you again or you will report them.  It's a scam and people should be aware.

    this place keeps calling me with a very vague message.  Something about my lack of response to some case that I'[ve never heard of.  They do not mention their name or company, just my name.

    They are legal prevention services.. I spoke with Dave Thomas.  Yay they are stealing the identities of dead celebrities too.  He was very upset when I mentioned his operation was a scam, and they have class action lawsuits against them.  I said stop calling me, and the [***] called right back.

    They called me yesterday the 26th, a man was very rude and harrassing and disrespectful tried telling me they were suing me on an old debt. After I hung up on him, he proceded to call back and started calling me names and got ugly with me. I told him not to call me back and that I will be reporting them for FDCPA Violations.

    I got a call this morning ,the person said they're a "locator" and I'll be served with papers tomorrow between 3 pm and 5 pm at home or at work, to please be home to avoid being served at work - unless I call 877-733-6542 to resolve and that I have now been officially notified.  Is this legit?

    It's not even close to legit. Classic scam. No process server ever notifies anyone *in advance* they're going to be served!

    I just received a phone call from an unknown number and she left a message stating her name was Michelle Anderson and that she was an independent locator in the area and she was giving me notice that I was going to be served on my job Monday between 3-5 pm... Now is it me or does this sound like straight BS!!!!  She also had the nerve to say I needed to refer to this legal prevention services crap....This has SCAM written all over it! Aren't these ppl under a class action law suit? How is this even legal that they continue to do such things like this?

    I got the same call with the same message from Michelle Anderson saying she was a locator and that I would be served with papers between 3 and 5. She just left a message on my voice mail. What is so funny is that she kept calling me Stacy but near the end she said Tracy. That is definitely not professional so it has to be a scam.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    This is (couldn't even understand the name) from Legal Prevention Services.    Said she was calling about a previous employee and specified the name.   Asked that I call this number back and she provided me with a US case #.   On her message it stated that she was taping the date of this call and the time which was 12:30 p.m.   OMG should I be scared?   NOT....I wasn't born yesterday.
