While in Firefox a voice box opened and said it was "microsoft tech support" and that my computer was infected. Threatened to shut down my computer if I didn't call this number: 877-767-0470 "to protect me". This happened to a friend last month, she called, and it was BAD. Remember folks, it's hard enough to get ahold of anybody at Microsoft to help you - when "they" pop up on your pc out of the blue, it's NOT THEM. Close your browser and run malware & virus scans immediately!

did anything happen after that?

The same thing happened to me yesterday while I was in Chrome.  It was pretty scary because my computer was totally frozen. I called the number and it sounded suspiciously like the scam phone calls I have received where they say they are microsoft and need to fix my computer.  When I asked the guy how do I know it is really Microsoft, he said if I was concerned I could just hang up, Which I did, thinking that the "real" MS would never say that.  It happened one more time after that but not since I've run malware.
