Left me a voice mail with a reference ID number.  Claims to be calling from the Commonwealth  of Massachusetts Division of Community Asset Management and Maintenance.  Called them back.  They asked questions about my business and minority status.  Not 100% sure the call was legit.  But since they did not ask questions I was uncomfortable answering, I provided the requested info.

Yup, sounded like a scam when I first heard the message, but I called DCAMM directly first to verify it's actually legit, and it is.  It's a very short survey gathering info about minority business ownership.

Keep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

We also just got this call asking to speak to the business owner for a short survey.  I read this page and did call Division of Capital Assets (thank you, Rick).  They said it was legitimate but that it was not required that we take the survey - entirely up to us.  We get so many junk calls during the day and they all sound like this come on.

Legit or Not,,, they can send a certified letter. That's Professional...

Not sharing any information with a phone caller preying on small business owners. Phone number also found  with the identification of Maryland's Department of Asset Management and Maintenance. If they'd like info they can send it in the mail.  Caller ID says Unavailable... hmmm don't think it's legit people.

When I called the number 8777675599 the voice mail said some airline and gave another number to call. Now they have my Magic Jack phone number.

They have been calling 4 to 5 times a week and leaving the same message.
They were hired by the group they say they are to do a survey of small businesses, so dont lie and maybe people will respond to you better.. but they keep calling my cell phone, it is a personal one not a business at all.
So shows that the Comm or Mass is hiring or paying an incompetent company and WASTING MONEY!

I listened to a voicemail message four times trying to determine the nature of the call.  It sounded as if I was to call them or go to a mass.gov(unintelligible) website.  I believe the caller did NOT want me to be able to access any legitimate site, but call them back.  Today, I received a call asking for my husband.  Without saying he was deceased, I asked him to tell me the reason they wished to speak to him.  The caller mumbled something, I asked her to repeat it, she mumbled again, and then hung up.  I do think this is a scam, even if the number looks "legit."

Message was mumbled so badly that it was impossible to understand. Same call, same mumbling, several times a week. Finally I got one that was un-mumbled enough that I was able to take down the number and reach this site. I won't call them.
