I have done some research and this is a 3rd party collection agency by the name of U.S Capital Recovery. Cannot find a legitimate website for them and the BBB seems to have no record of them. They seem to have a summons for me but are not trying vey hard to serve it. Makes me think they are shady.

I, too, received a call from 877-767-9941 on Jan. 27, 2011.  However, the call was not only to my home phone, but also to my uncle.  They told him that I put him down as a reference on something.  They also said that they were serving me with a lawsuit.  I have done nothing to be served for, so I think it's probably a scam.

just to make everyone aware, Im not someone who gets in trouble or not pays my bills, but I had a loan that I completely forgot about and it was a actual civil suit. They did contact my place of emplyment and my relative, but to b honest I was very glad to take care of it before it went any further... They are not a scam and there was this one woman I dealt with she was very professional and she worked with me like I was a human being not dirt... So my suggestion is if someone called from here make sure you call them back Its probably very important mine was.....

and that's why you looked up the number here? To tell us how well this went for you after they "reminded" you of this "debt" and it's not a SCAM?

Another typical shill post from another incompetent and/or fake bill collector.

After reading these threads I called back and it's a collection agency.  The person they're looking for shares my name but not S/S no. or birth date.  At least this person was polite and gave me the last 4-digits of the S/S no. they were looking for.  I've gotten smarter after getting these calls for a few years (they come in waves) and I don't get mad and simply tell them that's not my S/S no. and  basically they've got the "Wrong person."  I also tell them I get similar calls.  It is weird they call my cell number though.

These people called my work, and the phone rang once, then hung up.

No contact on my cell, but that's probibally because I'm cought up with my bills
