This company is a scammer!  I had them contact my parents on their personal cell phone numbers supposed looking for me.  They claim the client they represent had sent me a letter regarding credit card debt over 10 years old.  My phone number has not changed but yet I did not receive a phone call.  Nor have received any letter.  When I asked the lady on the phone about this supposed letter and whom sent it, I was told that they have an NDA and cannot disclose whom their client is.  They kept telling me they are a mitigation company and then proceeded to ask for a huge sum of money.

In the state I live statue of limitation to be sue on credit card debt and breach of credit card contract is 5 years but they continued to threat me with this action and then outright lie to me on the phone regarding the laws as well as the fair debt collections act.

If they have my address and enough information to supposedly sue me why can't they provide that information to me via written documentation as request.  Also why did they have to contact numerous family members and 3rd parties but not contact me directly?!

They actually didn't really want to talk to you (The person who knows there isn't a debt).
They want your family to panic at the close deadline and to pay the fake debt for you.
You really shouldn't have called them back but as long as you did, I hope you wasted a LOT of their time with questions.

I got a call from this scammer (A woman, sounded native-born American and educated), but the number she was calling from was (737)203-3055. The call was supposedly for my estranged sister. I didn't answer because my phone said "Scammer likely." In a voicemail, the caller said she was with Anderson and Associates. She was calling regarding a pending legal action in Orange County (Sister has NOT lived in Orange County for YEARS). The caller cited some legalese but exactly what that was is unsure because she quickly whispered it and it was unintelligible (On purpose, no doubt). The caller said to call (877)775-0949 by 5pm TODAY or they would be moving forward on this case without her consent (My sister's). There was definitely a stern threatening tone. I had no intention of calling, regardless, but DID look up the number they wanted my sister to call (really me). I found multiple scammer alert webpages, which confirmed my already STRONG suspicion that this was NOT legit.

As if anyone actually gives "consent" to being sued.  These morons are something else.

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation.  It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Caller said I needed to talk to Anderson and Associates mitigation firm.  I stupidly called the number and was transferred to someone who said I owed from a cc I opened in 2000, paid on 6 years and stopped.  That there was a court case in Madison County that was going to judge against me unless I worked with their firm to clear the $30k balance on a Mastercard.  They also called my daughter's phone and left a threatening voicemail for court action.  I never had a Mastercard until recently.  Can't even find the sponsoring bank name they claimed issued it on Google.  Gave me anxiety for a minute, but clearly a scam.

Called several members of my family looking for my wife. Wife finally called the number. They had her SS# and address. They told her she had a debt from 2012. She had to pay it now or they were “moving forward with action”.
Scary stuff. Turning it over to law enforcement.
