No message was left on my answering machine, but this number was on the caller ID.

I had the same number.... I called it back and it was discover card services.

They call and ask me to hold....can hear people talking in the background.  I hung up.  I read elsewhere this is Discover Card.  I got a call from them yesterday asking me to sign up for a card protection program.  I said no.  Wonder if this is someone calling to try to change my mind.  Discover calls me on a weekly basis trying to sell me something.  Half tempted to cancel the card just to stop dealing with them.

Calls up to three times per day, but never leaves a message.  I have always paid my bill on time, so it shouldn't be the collection department.  If it's that urgent, they're welcome to leave a message.

Have had 11 phone calls in the last 5 days from this number.  I always screen my calls & never answer calls from #'s that I do not recognize on my Caller ID.  After a handful of calls from this #, I thought that the only way I was going to end the harassment from them was to answer the call.  I said "Hello" about 3 times the first time I did this & there was "dead air."  Each time that I have tried to "answer" the call, it's been "dead air."  That is blatant harassment.  If you're going to call me, even to sell me something (which I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry), have the decency to respond when I pick up!  All this automated dialing is B.S.!  If I have to say "hello" more than twice, I hang up.  I did call the # back twice within 2 days & spoke with Wayne both times.  He supposedly put my name on their "do not call list" & profusely apologized for the calls.  When asked why it is that no one on their end answers the call when I pick it up, he says that he's been getting a LOT of complaints about it....to the point that HE'S even complained to his people about it & that it's a technical glitch.  I told him, that's what you get when you rely on these automated dialing systems.  He again, reassured me that my number was on their "do not call list."  That was yesterday.  Today, so far, I've received one call from them.  I filed a complaint through the FCC as well.

The number, 1-877-780-9891, is from Discover Card Services.  More than likely you are getting the call because you are a card member & they want to sell you a product or service through Discover.

What a crappy way of going about it!

yes, this is Discover or rather a marketing firm working on their behalf trying to sell payment protection or something. To say they are irritating is an understatement.

I've had about 20 calls from this number (Discover Card) where I have requested they quit calling...  all to no avail.

So, I decided that every time they call me, I will call back, and put my phone on speaker and let them listen to dead air when they answer.  

I'll try to update if this works!

Continous Calls, Will not stop. My wife has told them many times she is not interested, and they keep badgering. MY ^%%$##@#$$%% TURN. Lets see how they like it.

No messages ever left, but they call my home phone about 3 to 5 times a day (and night up even past 8:30 p.m.) - shows up on my caller id without any company info.

Six calls today so far. Time to make a complaint to the do not call registry. Bookmarked this site for sure.

this number 877-780-9891 has been calling constantly for 3 weeks now. One day for 11 times.  I have call blocking but the phone still rings one time before the block.  They just wont give up.

This number calls constantly, yet they never leave a message.

No message just constant calling. Answered once and it was Discover Card, and told them to stop calling. I do not accept telephone solicitations. Apologized that it won't happen again - until the next day. Won't stop.

Discover Card, they want you to sign up for job loss protection.
Rude, just hung up when I said I wasn't interested.
