I received a phone call from Texas Health and Human Services Commission concerning my mom.  The voicemail sounded like a request to call 1-877-782-6400.  I called that number thinking that I was getting TX HHS. The prompt was given to press 1 if someone in my household was over 65, so I pressed 1. Then, I was told that I qualified for a free medical alert system.  I was puzzled because my mom already has this system through TX HHS.  I should have realized that I had gotten a wrong number.  I was told to press 2 if I wasn't interested, so I did.  Immediately, I was told that I had qualified for a free Florida vacation.  At that point I knew that I had a wrong number and had been scammed, and I hung up.  I listened to the voice mail again and heard that the number I should have called was 1-877-782-6440.  How like the scammers to have a phone number that is one digit off from an official government number!  I am reporting this hoping that I can save someone else from making this mistake.  I had finally stopped receiving so many scam calls on my home phone; now I'll be receiving them again!   Counting the 3 calls that I've received this morning on my cell phone, this is the 4th call that I've received in one morning from scammers.  Believe it or not, I work very hard to keep them from getting my number.  But when you deal with many doctors and medical personnel on behalf of your 94 year old mother, sometimes you answer the phone thinking that it is a call from one of them.  This scenario has gotten ridiculous!
