- Mike EvansI have received a prompt from AOL informing me of suspicious activity with my e-mail address. That is now blocked. Phoning 1-877-786-0722 was an option to answering a load of questions. I cannot access my e-mails and after reading what others have said I am extremely reluctant to call this number. In fact, I won't. Flaming nuisance.
- Mike EvansIf you are an AOL computer user and you receive a message from AOL saying that your account has been blocked because of some unusual usage do not despair. It advises that you change your password and explains how you do it. Alternatively, it gives you a number to phone. After reading what people had to say about that I chose the other option and it was easy. Within minutes I had changed my password - same one for years - and had access to the net and our e-mails once more. No hassle talking to someone from a call centre thousands of miles away or requests for payment.
- Lady-M| 1 replyAll day I have been able to access my AOL account. This evening at around 6:30 p.m. EST on my Apple computer, I tried logging in to my AOL account and got the same message as all of you -- with the same phone number. I called the number and woman (Indian?)could barely speak English. Asked me for my e-mail address and answer to my security question, which I gave to her. I no sooner gave her that info then she said my account was fine. Asked her why i got this warning and she said perhaps someone tried to log into my account, etc. and offered to change my PW with me. I thanked her and hung up. Went to my Windows computer and immediately changed my PW and security question. The "877" number was not on the list of AOL phone numbers. I called AOL, finally got thru to a live person, and he told me the "877" was not a legit number. After I spoke to him I changed my PW and security question again. Hope this helps

- Lady-M replies to Lady-MP.S. -- When I went to my Windows computer, that was set on automatic sign-in and I had no trouble getting into my mail -- and I was not told, for example, that my PW was incorrect.
- kathleenIt really can't be legit as I can access my email just fine from any other device I own. It's just the desktop that refuses me.
