- fed-upMy husband just received a call from this number from Tom Turner saying he's authorized to serve him papers. Yeah Right! He asked to have my husband contact the ADR firm at the number.
Get lost loser! - mama replies to NottheoneYes they called me today actually somehow they got my husbands phone number and called him looking for me stating that they are trying to serve me papers...lol because really since when do people notify a person in advance that they are being served? When i called them back they said it was a pay day loan from 2007 they are going to garnish my wages however, they also had no idea where i worked and that i would be charged with fraud charges for writing a check on a closed account. i never wrote them a check ...plus 2007 was a few years ago and you are now worring about this?

- JMMy elderly parents received an extremely arrogant answering machine message from this number. Same m.o. as others have previously stated - threatening action , serving papers ,"you've been notified" , case number , claim against you - blah blah blah. Completely unprofessional and trying to frighten whoever he was looking for.
The caller identified himself by last name of Davis. He was looking for a woman who had the same last name as my family. I called them back and explained to them that no one by that name lives here or has ever lived here. They apologized , said we would never get another call from them and 3 days later my elderly parents get another unprofessional - threatening call from them for whoever it is they are looking for.

- Aggravated Person| 5 repliesWe had a message of the same sort described previously in the above comments. A rude, threatening message was left on our answering machine on Monday. We didnt call back and today another call
that the number was blocked and my daughter answered and gave it to me. First off, it is against the privacy act to discuss my husbands information with me and scare me by threatening him saying if he doesn't call the 800 that they have a summons for his arrest and he will have to go to court and pay court costs. I told her that it was fine that he already has a great attorney that he is using for something else. I googled on this situation and it is unreal the number of people that they are doing the same thing to! I blocked my number and called the 800 number and gave them the case number and they wanted his name. I gave first name only and then she asked me to verify the last 4 digits of his social security number and I told her I would not give that info to her and she hung up on me. If it was a real thing they wouldn't have hung up on me. I think I scared them and had them thinking I was an investigator or the law. LOL This is so wrong! If they did this to my grandmother or some other elderly person they would probably pay the money. Also, my husband has followed up with our county sheriffs dept to see if there is a summons for his arrest and there isn't. They said it is all a scam! Beware if you receive a call like this!- Caller: ADR Firm

- Aggravated Too replies to Aggravated Person| 4 repliesYou are correct on all your points, except one. It is legal to speak to a person's spouse regarding financial situations such as debt. Sorry about that!
- Aggravated replies to Aggravated Too| 1 replyIf the debt is a joint debt I understand that it can be discussed with both parties, but if the debt is an individual debt I didn't think it was legal to be discussed with the spouse. I know medical records or medical information cant be discussed with a spouse unless a release is signed giving permission to release information to that person. Also, I've worked for several different banks and information on an account can not be discussed with the spouse unless it is a joint account belonging to both parties. My husband and I have a joint checking account but separate savings accounts due to us both being married previously and his x-wife keeps taking him back to court to pay more and more money out and I want to protect what is mine. After he was divorced from her and we were living together and I had our water account in my name only but they asked me when I opened the account the names of other people living in the household and I gave his name, then about 4 months later a $400 charge appeared on my bill. I called the water company and asked what the $400 charge was for and they said the water bill was in his and x-wifes name (when they were married) and she moved and left a $400 balance. They had no information of how to contact her and they connected my account with that account because his name was on that account and he was listed as living in my household. Therefore, the $400 balance was put on me to pay. Also, they owed back taxes together from 2006 to the state and the federal IRS and we filed our taxes jointly this year and they took $3800 of our refund this year to pay off their 2006 taxes! I love my husband but I'm sick of paying past debts from his previous marriage. I have no rights to any information on any of those accounts but yet they take my money to pay them! Something isn't right about that!
- anonymous replies to AggravatedRe. "but yet they take my money to pay them," creditors are not taking your money, they are taking joint money because the money or account is in both names. I know it seems unfair that creditors can take 100% instead of 50% of the amount owed from joint accounts but that's the law. It's up to the both of you to work out internally who owes what where. If you can find your husband's ex, your husband can sue her in small claims court for her share of all marriage debt that was paid solely by him (and you!) like $200 of the utility bill and $1,900 of the IRS seizure.
- tjc| 1 replyMy age is 62, recent history of uterine, pancreas, vaginal path cancer. I have had surgery, gone thru a left shoulder replacement and this idiot man, called last night about 7:00 PM telling me to call this 1+877+818-1572. He was rude, would not given me his night except ARM Agency, so I called them. This lady answered the phone, said I owed $435.50 to Urgent Cash???? I never heard of them before. When they answere the phone, they said Global Collection Agency. Said they were going to sue me. I explained that both me and my husband was on SSD and we couldn't afford that bill. I told them or this lady, that I don't remember any bill from 2008, she screamed so loud my husband could hear her sitting on the couch and I just hung up the phone. What next?

- c12347 replies to Aggravated Too| 1 replyI agree it is legal to speak to a spouse about finances. HOWEVER, I don't think they can do so over the phone, with no-way to legitimately prove that it is the persons spouse (only a say so).
- Tom replies to mc1503Same thing--male individual claims he's a process server and is giving me one more chance to call ADR. I don't have any payday loans, and besides, the guy wouldn't tell me who is the complainant or how much is owed. Yeah, right. Some "process server"!
- anonymous replies to tjcLegit collectors, per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf , *must* send you paperwork stating :
1. amount and the name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
2. that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
3. that if you do dispute in writing, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
4. that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the paperwork (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires the collector to send it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.

It implies that your spouse is your "possession" and therefore has not right to privacy (in my opinion).
