- Jonathon YounkinI listened to the message and they said someone used me as a reference. That is all I could understand because the woman who left the message sounded VERY drunk. I SHOULD almost post it so everyone can hear it. Turns out to be a collection agency. Are they not lying about their intentions? Is that not illegal?

- nicoleI got a very similiar message as Jonathon received yesterday. I was unable to understand most of the message other then a phone# and I was listed as a reference for someone. When I called the phone # they gave they indicated to me they were a debt collector and needed the account number. I told them I was returning a call for a reference check, they hung up on me. This happened twice. Kinda seems like a scam of some kind to me. Not wasting anymore of my time trying to call them, and won't waste my cell minutes answering one of their calls.

- WoodswalkerJust got the third one this week, answered and got dead air for a long 10 - count, I hang up after that with no response to a hello. Won't try to call back either.
edit: 4th call...say that they are trying to contact a former co-worker and 'aquired my number as an alternate contact". I have no way of finding said former co-worker nor do i want to.- Caller: UAC

- ScottThis is Universal Acceptance Corporation's 3rd party collection agency that collect for the dealers you see around called CarHop. They require 12 references or phone numbers is all that answer at the dealers. They want to sell the car, not talk to you. And these guys only see this guy is short 3 dollars and call all the references immediatly. The idea is to get the car repossed so they can sell it again. It's a scam/ring/loop thing. Buy car from wrecking yard, sell it at twice blue/ + 29% interest. Miss a payment, they come get it, then repaint and sell again to someone else. That's where that is cominng from though.

- unknownI got the same call. But I will call them and tell them how to get their car back. The person they are looking for is not a friend. She is a crazy B****. Will be my pleasure to help them get thei
r car back from her. Yes it is Carhop but if you pay your bill they do not come after you. They tell you right up front what you are getting into when you agree to their terms of buying a car from them. So yes it is ovepriced but then don't use them if you don't like their collection method. People with poor credit or have had previous vehicles repossesed use them.- Caller: UAC-CarHop

- Deltarcved a call about Crystal Clark an Andre Freitag who apparently gave a phone number as a reference. . I suspect thiks is an attempt to identify cell phone numbers for sale to robocallers. I am uncertan that this is not jist a way to confirm the numbers.
- Caller: ???? Financial Corp.
- A| 1 replyThey are calling me at work and that is not legal. I have notified them twice now I will get an attorney if they continue. Somedays the call the exact day of my payment being due. Would never do business with Carhop or UAC (Universal Acceptance Corp)
