When this number called, the person on the line told me they were going to connect me to someone who had business with me and wouldn't tell me who was calling or why (I did ask). I get a bit suspicious of people who won't tell me who they work for, so I hung up.

These people are running a SCAM! Do not fall for it!

They will claim you owe a debt which you actually do not owe.  They will threaten to have you arrested if you do not pay them.  They pretend to be a legitimate collection agency, however, it is all a scam.

Do not give them your social security number (they will claim they need you to verify it) or any other personal information.  Tell them you know they are scammers and hang up.  Then contact one of the three credit reporting agencies - Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion - and request a copy of your credit report.  You are allowed one free copy each year.  If you really owe a debt, it will be on your report.  The Scammers may have told you that they are allowing you to pay them before it hits your credit report, but that's a lie.  That's not how it works.  Bad debts go on your credit report BEFORE they are sent to a collection agency.

The Scammers use a VOIP phone to spoof phone numbers of legitimate collection agencies, so the number you see on caller ID is not the actual number they are calling from.  This list is just a few of the numbers they use:  941-757-8567, 877-575-9464, 877-818-9173, 978-705-6437, 205-209-4217, 203-567-4289.

Hang up and block their calls.  Don't become a victim of their scam!

caller stated he would only talk to my husband because he "had business with him" I told him he did not.  I could hear what sounded like other phone callers in background. Caller had an accent and talked very fast.

    Ugh not telling my info!

Caller refused to give me any information about my "personal business matter" unless I would verify personal information, informed him I was not giving him my information until he told me what he was calling in reference to, said since I  refused to verify he couldn't talk to me and hung up on me. Definite overseas accent!

I had this exact same call yesterday! I asked what it was referring too and he wanted me to verify my information and refused. I hung up and blocked the call. Had me worried for a few until now!

A person from this number has called me at least 5 times.  They want me to verify personal information.  I told them if it is a legitimate collection they should have my info.  Told them they obviously have the wrong person. The person claims they can't tell me what it is about, so I told her I can't give any info either. Also they have my maiden last name which I haven't used in 40 years.  Very suspicious. If they are a collection agency does anyone know who they collect for?

If this is a debt collector for AT&T...I have auto pay with AT&T and it's taken out of my account every month on the due date. If this is some collector for something else...they never leave a message.

Debt collectors are not telemarketers and don't have a list that they remove you from.  Most people do not do business with a debt collector.

I've been getting quite a few calls from this number. i haven't picked it up. A collector for AT&T? Strange. I've never used them since they don't work in my area, but i noticed recently a fraudulent negative mark on my credit from a cellular/cable company. I've used pre-paid phone for an extremely long time and last Cellular company had was Spint and I don't owe them anything and that was a long time ago. As far as cable it's not available out in the country where I live. We have satellite out there. I'm wondering if the calls are related to the fraudulent info on my credit report....

They called asking for my son. Told them he was a child and that I was his mother, how could I help them? They asked me to verify the last 4 of his social and I refused, they also asked me to verify his address and I refused. Told them I wasn’t verifying any information until I was told who they were and what it was about they claimed it was a personal matter

Talk about a moron. There is no "personal matter" they could possibly have with a child that could not be discussed with the parent. Especially not one that would require verification of the child's Social Security number!
