Went to Walmart.com website. When finished, I left my computer. When I came back a few minutes later, I found a warning box that locked up my computer and told me to call this number. I've seen this crap before but called anyway. I wanted to meet another middle eastern crook . A woman named Jenny (interesting name for someone probably still living in Pakistan or India) told me my computer is infected and she needed to fix it. I asked if she worked for Microsoft. She said YES. Asked if she worked for Microsoft or a "partner" of Microsoft. She said MICROSOFT. Asked what she wanted me to do. Told me to click on Windows desktop icon plus the R key. Asked her how she knows my computer is infected. She said because Microsoft monitors all users of Windows. Sure, they do. They watch millions of computers for signs of infection and call the infected ones to fix them. I said I doubted that, and our call suddenly disconnected. I shut down the computer and rebooted to clear her crap from my screen. A few minutes later, I found a voice message on my phone that told me to call her again at a different phone number. I'm a computer tech. I know how their scam works. I know they are not from Microsoft. I know they lie about everything they tell me. I know they will eventually try to take remote access of my computer and that they will claim they fixed my computer and ask for money. I know they will strip all usable information from my computer and steal as much from me as they can. I know people who have been conned by these crooks. I did not return Jenny's call.  She was boring.

You are allowing ads, which I am sure Walmart has tons of on their site.  If you had installed an ad blocker and only allowed Popups with your permission you would have never seen that fake "virus warning".

This is definitely a scam.  I've seen it several times on Yahoo!  My computer is only one day old, I am very careful what I click on.  I know that my computer is clean of any type of malicious software.  I'm using windows 10, I had to stop the browser from the task manager and then restart the browser and quickly delete the bad browser tab.  I wish these crooks could be found and punished.

I had the same experience BC had.  I checked with my son who informed me it was a scam so I didn't return the call.
