Wants all your information over the phone for a home equity loan for a 2.24%, with no paper work involved. Weird to me!!!

Beware, do not give info. This woman gave a name of Linda Neri at 203-741-4829.

Got a call arouind 6 PM asking if I  had received their mailing/emailing  regarding lower rates for home equity loans ( my husband answered the phone but the gentleman asked to speak to me ). I told him we were all set , thank you, and he quickly hung up.  We will be going to our local branch of Webster Bank  tomorrow and ask them what is going on.

My husband and I went to our local Webster Bank branch this morning and spoke to the branch manager.  He said this is a number for Webster Bank and they are doing follow-up calls on mailings that were sent out regarding home equity loans.  He did advise us not to apply for a loan over the phone though.  We already have a home equity loan with them and asked him why we still got a phone call.  He said their records need to be purged to avoid this from happening again.

If we ever needed a home equity loan again I would go to a bank in person and not apply over the phone.  You never know who you are dealing with.

This is also true for receiving robot-calls from "Rachel" telling you there is nothing wrong with your credit cards right now but if you press 9 ( or whatever number)  they can lower your credit card rates.  This is definitely a scam.  Our legislators  here in Ct.   are looking into this .

One of the numbers that that "RACHEL" gives is to press 3 to be taken off of these calls, I don't dare press it because I feel that opens Pandora's box and they won't stop calling knowing you are monitoring the calls from them ...

Robo-calls for telemarketing purposes from anyone other than governmental agencies (i.e. Police, School districts and unfortunately local politicians) is illegal by federal law. Don't ever give any info over the phone. If they have legitimae business with you they know your mailing address. Ask them to put it in writing and mail it to you. Do not provide or confirm your address.
