They want someone at your number to answer survey questions. You have the option to remove your name from their database, by staying on line and pressing a number. No one will answer if you call back, just the computer.

George - I believe you're right. My mother recently changed plans. I didn't answer as I was not aware who was calling but after reading your post it makes sense now. I tried calling back but it said it was a research company and wanted input on a survey.

Received 3 calls from this number. They failed to leave any voicemails. The 4th time they called I answered and spoke with who seemed like an African american female with a heavy lisp. She claimed to be calling from United Healthcare. I recently signed my father up for a Medicare Advantage Plan and put my number down as reference. She said the purpose of the call was to make sure I understood what I was signing up for before the application was finalized. She then proceeded to request my father's date of birth. I told her I was not comfortable providing personally identifiable information over the phone to an unconfirmed source. She said "uhh....okay. Thank you and if you have any other questions, please call United Healthcare at XXXXXXXX". I then asked "what is the status of my father's application?" and she said "uhh...they're processing it." So as you can see - this was CLEARLY not United Healthcare. Does anyone know who I can report this to so they take care of it?

Stupid people looking for survey and sales leads.........I get so mad at this type of invasion of my privacy - I never answer it and since my message machine is on all the time they usually disconnect as I am sure they have machines that detect that.

    DO NOT give them Information!
This is NOT a legitimate call. I spoke with United HealthCare directly and they said this number is NOT a known number of theirs or their affiliates. Please everyone do not give them any information. It is a fake call just trying to get your information.

Got a call.  There was no sound when I picked up the phone.  After I said hello twice, the phone was cut.

Many messages here mentioned the call is from United Health.  Oddly, I just joined United Health Plan two weeks ago.  If this call was from them, they should have talked to me.  So I have to suspect someone in the United Health sold our numbers to some other organizations.

Just got the same call  9:50am today 12-6-11, and let my message machine handle it.  They hung up of course.  I just switched to Secure Horizons (thru AARP same as United Health) two weeks ago also. Wish something could be done about these calls, all unwanted calls, but I guess no one cares.  I am on the no call list, but that does no good. It was a waste of time.

I had a same experince. It is second time I got this call.  This time, a woman, probably an Indian, said she is doing servey for United Health Prescription Drug Plan D which I just signed up.  She wanted to know if I understand the plan and if the agent did a good job to explain.  I said OK please go ahead to explain to me.  Then she asked my birthday.  I did not want to continue the conversation after that.  I was told by the insurance agent that I should get a coupon book, a card and a document to explain the plan.  I should receive them in 2 weeks.  The agent never said I should get a call to explain things to me.

I do not know this call is from the United Health or not.  I think it is possible. The companies do hire Indian Phone Bank to do business for them.

Just got the call again today 12-7-11 at 8:30am.  Answered it, and this guy was reading to me from apparently a piece of paper in front of him.  He went thru the whole thing about AARP, Secure Horizons,
and United health Care.  I ask him if he was from any of those associations, and he said just a minute
and talked to someone and said that he was from  DSS Research.  I said gees that is too bad, I cannot
help you and hung up.  I then googled it, and they are into all kinds of crap.  Just check it out. I am going to contact AARP, Secure Horizons and United Health Care.  One of these companies has sold our name.
most likely AARP, as insurance companies do not work that fast! i just changed a couple of weeks ago,
and just now getting my papers in the mail.  GOOGLE IT!!!!

I read the United Health Prescription Plan D enrollment document, it says a DSS research firm, their vendor, will make a verification call two weeks after the application.  They will ask the name and the birthday to verify your identity first.  The purpuse is to survey if the insurance agents did their job to explain the plan.  The call is required by Medicare.  I think it is not proper to ask the birthday since we all know we should not give personal information to strangers over the phone.

I also just changed plans and my agent did tell me that they would be calling to find out if the agent explained everything to me and did I have any additional questions about the plan!  They are evaluating the agent!  I also did not answer personal questions!  I am sure they expect that in todays world.  Why would anyone give personal information over the phone to someone they do not know.

Call came in at 9:00 pm .  Hard to understand caller's accent.  He asked me about Blue Cross Insurance and stated he was with Blue Cross.  I told him Blue Cross already has the answers and I don't appreciate night calls.

The company DSS Research is calling on behalf of insurance companies everywhere to get their satisfaction surveys and see how people are feeling with their insurance. It's kind of nice to know someone actually give a crap about people spending hard earned money to their health insurance and having their health insurance wanting to know how you feel about your insurance. I hear a lot of people say they don't like their health insurance...well, I think what this company does is take everyone's opinions and see how the company is doing. As for the asking for your birthdate, I do think it is kind of private, but don't you want to know if you are talking to the person signing up for AARP instead of someone else? Y'all are too paranoid. The agents should have told you they were gonna call. They call everybody. If you don't want them to call, just ask nicely to get your number taken off the list. The DO NOT CALL list doesn't apply to them because they're not selling you anything, they're surveyers who wants your opinions. Like I said, just ask them to take you off their call list and that will be the end of it.
