- Dustin Tarver| 3 repliesOk, I am always reading about the scams that are taking place through collection companies pretending to be a law firm and in actuality they have no connection to any attorney's. So my girlfriend get's a call that sounded oh so familiar to me from a company called MileStone Law Group. I told her that they are fakes and not to worry about it, after she took my advice she hung up in there face and received no more calls. About a month later she was served some court documentation, she is now being sued, she is soooo pissed at me right now. So I guess i am writing this for anyone who thinks these guys are the usual collectors who claim to be connected to an attorney, or an attorney themselves, No not these guys, they are really suing people. Crazy, Sorry Baby......

- bjr| 3 repliesActually they are scam artist bill collectors posing as a law firm threatening lawsuit to scare people into giving up their bank account information over the phone. I've been harassed several times over the last 2 weeks by these losers. I did some research on them and found a craigslist job ad for bill collectors for the phone number associated with this so-called law firm on their fake website. You go to their website and click on services and it's blank. The address and phone # are different from the yellow page website listings, not even the same city in California. They'll tell any kind of lie to steal your money. Don't be fooled. For so-called lawyers, the idiot I talked to didn't even known that there are 4 states that don't allow garnishment for credit debt, one of which I happen to live in! The stupid woman who called me, supposedly from Portolio Litigation, "hired" by Milestone Law Group to contact me, was reading from a script. She claimed it was for a hospital bill, which I don't have in collection, then the so-called lawyer said it was about a credit card bill. They really should get their lies straight. They're not even listed in any law directory, not even the ABA or findlaw.com website.

- anonymous replies to Dustin TarverGiven bjr's post below, your post must be a shill post to scare people and move the scam along.
Folks, a legit collector must give you the 5 items required by the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf at or within 5 days of initial contact -- $amount owed, name of debt owner and 3 Miranda statements on how to dispute the debt. If you don't get these 5 items, the collector is scammer and should be treated as such. - jmuMe too! Called my father n laws house looking for me. Thought that was weird. If it was a legitimate collector they should know my right address! N try to contact me there first. Thought I would do some research before calling them back n this is what I found. When I listened to the message she was reading from a script n just filling n my name which she couldn't even say correctly. My o my!

- mimiThese people,,her name is April, keeps calling my cell phone looking for somebody. First they left voicemail saying if this person doesn't call back will file charges within 24 hours. I didn't call back because it isn't me or anyone I know. Well they still keep calling, finally I did talk to "April" I told her she had the wrong number, asked me who I was yeah right like I would tell you that...told her none of her business, said she was sorry this number "just came across her desk." She has called at least five time since and still telling me the same thing and it's the same girl. If was a legit collection or law firm she would know according to the fair debt and collection act, she is no longer allowed to call my number anymore. Don't fall for this crap, these people need to get a real job and quit trying to scam people out of their hard earned money that we DO honest work for.
- bbReceived a call from "Private Number", guy says his name is Dillon Green and then he rambled on and on about my property, case numbers, lawsuits and gave me this 877-933-4846 number to call. Research on the number comes up as Milestone Law Group out of Ontario, California. Highly unlikely this is a legit law firm. When I called the 877 number back as a blocked caller, it was the same guy who called and left the message. What law firm doesn't have receptionists? I smell a scam, or at the very least, a bottom feeding collector who buys old debt and tries to scare you into paying. Know your rights...know the statute of limitations on certain debt in the state you live in. In California, if the debt is 4 years old or more, it cannot be collected. Remember, REAL attorneys will provide documentation, and act within the Fair Debt Collection process.

- one mad personReceived a call at my home for my sister in law and about a month later received a call for myself. Pamela Bass (Boss) left a message saying that she had legal documents for me and that I needed to call the law firm who hired her within 3 hours or they were filing legal papers against me. Since I dont have any reason to have legal action against me my lawyer suggested I not worry about it. A week later I receive another message from Pamela telling me if I dont contact this 877-933-4846 number and give them a case # that I would have legal documents delivered to my home and place of business tomorrow. I tried calling the number without any success the first three times. It was during the third time that I noticed that it was the same information left for my sister in law. I tried one more time and reach a guy who told me that he had some papers for my sister in law and they were going to be delivered to me since I was put down as her closest relative (which I am not). I asked what the papers were and he could not tell me. I think it is strange that they will deliver the papers to me knowing I have not talked to her in more years than I care to remember but they could not tell me what they were. I told him I did not want any papers delivered to me for her and to quit calling me. I hope this works or else I am going to have to change my number.grrrrr

- cheriej521 replies to MEAGAN| 1 replyOMG...I wish I had checked them out closer before giving them any money! It scared me cuz they also called my brother's house in VA (I live in CA). Said a sheriff would come serve me and possibly take my truck (only thing I have worth anything) if I didn't make an agreement with them for an old (relatively speaking) debt. SO I ended up paying them, thru auto-billing (because they said I had to) so far $400! I've too been researching them online most of the day today...they wanted more money taken out to pay them on Friday, 17th. Now I feel I have to move any money I have out of my account in case they try to take it!! I called them today to tell them I couldn't make the whole payment on Friday. What do I do? What recourse do I have?? Anyone know?? Also, they say in their letter to me their "client" (not orig. creditor) is PLS Capital Group...which happens to be at the exact same address as Milestone. I can't find much of ANYTHING on PLS Capital Group. Any ideas, anyone?
