- KathyThey call my office frequently saying they are Verizon and this is a Verizon Service Alert. They say to call this number back and reference a 10 digit code, which is my office phone number. But what's strange is that the caller ID says it's from Newark NJ with a number of 973-718-5274.
- Caller: Says they are Verizon
- AshleyI received a similar message as Kathy. The automated voice even sounded like Verizon. Bill was recently paid so it's gotta be a scam. The caller ID was 443-602-9509 and you are asked to call the 877 #, and reference your 10 digit mobile phone #. If the message was really "urgent", you should get a message about what it's about if the caller was legit I would think. Could be a ploy to steal your identity or sucker you into thinking you owe money that you don't owe.
- Caller: They claim to be Verizon
- Ginaone of my salespeople said they got an automated voicemail from verizon to call them at (877) 936-1170 because the account was past due in the amount of $124.00.
The line is Sprint. I called Sprint and they said the account was up to date and that it had to have been a fraudulent call.
**Beware this phone number and call your own contact number to verify account status. **- Caller: Fraud- Verizon?
- Call type: Debt collector

Please reply to this post, to let us know you read it, or have taken suitable actions to protect yourself. - Beth W.Everyday I receive a call with a voice mail message saying they are Verizon. The tell me to call 877-936-1170 with a reference number that is my phone line (we are a business). I called back and spoke with a rep. They spent a long time finding my "reference number." I told them we are not a Verizon customer, they said they are not Verizon. I asked who they are and they said MCI. We are not a customer of MCI either. I interrupted her and said to remove me from their call list. She started to tell me I have to call another number. I told her no, just remove me from the call list. I don't have time at work for these unwanted calls. This is a scam!
- Caller: First said they are Verizon then they said they are MCI. I think it is a scam.
