- julieCalls come several times a day, first, home phone, then my cell, then my husbands cell. I answer, no one answers back, just hang up!
- Beth KuiperI am getting calls from this number numerous times a day. I would like to get them to stop. Annoying!
- EMI don't answer and they never leave a message. Not only do they call several times a day, they have figured out how to prevent (at least on my phone company's system) call blocking. When I tried, I got a recorded message saying I dialed incorrectly.
- Caller: Amsher Collection
- Florida Girlreceived a call from this phone number back in 2/19 and then today (2/23). I automatically rejected the call.
I'm adding them now in my auto-reject list.- Caller: n/a
- MarieCaller ID read UNAVAILABLE (really knocking it dead with that anonymous call rejection, Verizon). My voicemail doesn't pick up until after five rings, which deters some robocallers, but not this one! After voicemail kicked in, a computer-generated voice said "hello" at least 10 times before a live voice with boilerroom noises in the background cut in and also said "hello." Since they were both "talking" with voicemail, they never got a response, and the live person eventually hung up.
tl; dr: SCAM!- Caller: UNAVAILABLE
- Big Bad BobI just started receiving calls from this number last week. The caller was not in my area code, so I let the call go to voice mail. The message was: "This is Verizon calling with a Service Alert." The message then continued with a number that I was to call, presumably to hear the "Service Alert." The number I was asked to call is different from the number that appeared on my caller ID. I was told to provide my ten digit phone number as a password to access the Alert. Am I supposed to believe that now all of a sudden Verizon is concerned about security regarding service alerts?
The next day I placed a call to the number that had appeared on my caller ID. There was no answer. I inferred that the Caller ID number was a spoof. I didn't call the number that I was asked to respond to.
I do not have telephone service with Verizon. However, if Verizon were interested in providing me with a Service Alert, I hope that they would be smart enough to leave the Alert on my voice mail. "Alert" certainly implies some immediacy. Perhaps the caller will send me a Verizon Alert Letter. However, if he sends it "Presorted Standard," I am likely to discard it unopened.
One of my heroes appeared on a YouTube video recently in which he he kept an unsolicited caller on the phone line for over an hour without providing the caller with any personal information. On days when I have had absolutely nothing else to do, I have kept callers on line for as long as 30 minutes and it was always I who tired of the game first. I used to think this was sweet revenge. I have heard that some callers are compensated based on how long they can keep a potential mark on the phone. This may not be justice. I often thought of getting a part time job with an insurance company just to see whether I can sell an insurance policy to an unwelcome caller.
