Today received an automated call from 877.936.1174. Computer-generated female voice (english accent) asks for Alan Durin. I entered numbers in response to “are you Alan Durin?” No. “does AD need more time to come to the phone?” No. “Is this number in error?” Yes. CG voice indicates this will be recorded as a number in error and may take a day or so to update.

BTW one week ago received a call from Tyler at "Americollect," the number came up as 855.813.9739. They left a message saying I needed to call them about an overdue bill. I called back and a female answered. I asked for Tyler and was told he was unavailable. Female said they were looking for "Alan." I said nobody by that name here. Don’t call this number again.

Received a call twice on my cell phone but I always missed the call. On my phone it says it is a San Francisco number (415) 592-5079. The second time they called was yesterday and they left  a voice mail (female with an English accent) "This is Stella Recovery. This is an attempt to collect a debt. Please call us back at (877) 936-1174." I researched the San Francisco number and came up with the information that it is a Voip (voice over internet protocol) number. I do not plan to call back since I am pretty sure it is a scam and I don't want to end up actually calling Jamaica or some other country.

I keep getting calls from a variety of different "800" type numbers, I do not answer numbers I do not recognize unless they are local numbers only. I will call them back after they call me and half the time I get an automated recording saying that is not a working number. I never even thought about putting the number in Google and seeing what it brings up... but now I know about this site I have pinned it to my start menu and for now I am going to report this calls, I am sick and tired of them they are all hours of the day and night and on both Saturday and Sundays.  I recommend all people do this it really doesn't take up much time..

This is a junk debt company called Stellar Recovery. The buy decades old junk debt, usually past the legal collection limit, for pennies on the dollar and attempt to get you to make any kind of arrangement or promise to start the statutes if Limitations for collections to start.

They usually buy portfolios of junk debt right before a merger. My guess, Comcast, charter and time Warner cable mergers/split junk debt.

They called my Google Voice number 3 times today and finally left a message the last time.  Since I never use that number for bill collectors, and don't have any unpaid debt anyway, I know it's BOGUS!  Well, now that number has been blocked and they'll get the "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected, etc., etc." message instead.  Thank you Google Voice! >:->

They tell me I have been approved for a pay day loan, I entered numbers to stop the calls because I was not who they thought I was and it has not stopped. I think this is linked to 631-693-1342.

Caller ID had local Cleveland number 216-539-3747.  Googled it.  One comment said bill collector.  Checked my phone.  VM left.  It WAS a debt collector, but no company mentioned, and the accent was soooo thick you couldn't understand it anyway.  They left a return of one number of 877-936-1174.  Most of of message (after the little bit of English ?) was translated in Spanish, I think.  Won't answer.  I'm ready to call them just to tell them if they can't speak clear, concise ENGLISH, and leave full information in their messages, don't bother calling, because they're wasting their time and money.  But one thing I do do people like this...when the same number keeps calling I let it ring once or twice, hit the button to answer just long enough (1second) to connect, and hang up.  They get charged for the call!  Sometimes it's a robo...don't care.  They pay.  Sometimes it's a person!  Lol.

Had the exact same thing happen to me, but the spoofed # was from my state, on the other side of the country. Real debt collectors probably don't operate this way. My guess is this is a scam. DO NOT call them back. I have zero debt. They did not even name who they were trying to call. This call came on my cell phone- a number very few people even have. (Although a scammer just running through the number combo's could obviously call.) Definitely don't call them back. If you actually do have a debt and you're worried, call that company yourself directly- using the number from one of your bills or from their legit web site. SCAMMERS!
