- EllenI advertised an expensive piece of furniture on Craig's List. I keep receiving texts from this number. I think it is a scammer.
- John MurphyI placed an ad on Craigslist and received a text from this number asking me "can I have a brief detail of the furniture scanned to richfrost04@gmail.com and its cost."
I thought this was funny because the description, dimensions and pictures were right there on the CL ad. When I texted him back mentioning that I do have scanning ability (I do), I never received a response. - Heidi| 1 replySame thing. Put ad on CL for furniture set and got this text to my phone:
FRM:Ferdinand Richards
SUBJ:Furniture
MSG:Send me your mail contact to richfrost04@gmail.com if your still the furniture and its charges
The text came from 1 (410) 100-001 - Dave replies to HeidiI also got a suspicious text from 314-828-0357, asking me to mail him info already posted in ad to richfrost04@gmail.com, also noting "strictly email only please." I thought is was rather suspicious since I am selling the item in PA and the phone is from Missouri and that someone would text me and ask me to respond only via email, especially since I included my email in the ad and so he could have emailed me instead. Of course when I questioned him in a response text about this, he never responded. I noticed on another Craigslist scam site a report of a buying scam with similar email address (richfrost07@gmail.com) in which the person was trying to get the sell to provide personal financial info to buy something several states away!
- Craigslist seller| 2 repliesrichfrost04@gmail.com
Called himself Richard Quinn/Frost. Wanted to send a USPS next day check for over the selling amount to include payment for his movers. Big scammer, told him cash only.- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Another Seller replies to Craigslist seller| 1 replyHow odd he did that to me too. Like you I said cash only.
- Tygerkat replies to Another SellerIt's not odd, it's how this scam works. They send you a check for more than you're asking then tell you to give the extra to their "mover". Except their check will bounce & you'll not only be out the money you gave the "mover" but you'll also be liable for a bounced check.
