- Ken (VA)| 1 replyI've had 3 calls (about 1/week) from this number. My PhoneTray has blocked each one with the SIT tone and disconnected message. No information online about the number that I could find. One of the less aggressive telemarketers I guess. The caller ID (which I fully realize can be spoofed) always displays the name as "Unavailable" so no way will I entertain answering. Thanks PHONETRAY!

- EdI repeatedly get calls from this number and related ones which all turn up in websearches as being from Southwestern Credit. When I answer there is no one there. When I don't answer, they never leave a message. What is the point of that? This has been going on literally for years. They just never never stop.

- Resident47 replies to JohnThe federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:
National Do Not Call Registry Q&A
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry - Resident47 replies to LisaYou should by law have received a dunning letter regarding the alleged debt giving you thirty days to demand validation. Do so, on paper and sent USPS Certified, and also state how some or all phone calls are inconvenient. If you're deadly certain you owe nothing, you can alternatively write that you refuse to pay or to cease all communication. (same result either way)
Lawbreaking collectors all think you're a liar every time you make a verbal denial. You're dealing with bullies who don't care about your rights. If you do care, learn to use them.
FDCPA §1692g. Validation of debts
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/1692g - Resident47 replies to RuthYour callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until, if possible, you deliver them *directly* to your caller.
- Resident47 replies to JoannaUnlike Lisa a couple months ago, you needn't be concerned with debt validation, only convincing the agency to stop hassling you. Posing as the person being sought has only fueled their suspicion that you're "hiding from your problems" and can be coerced into paying what you never owed. Again, get on a paper trail and stop turning your hair gray on the phone.
