Received repeated calls from this number while traveling.  The VM message says that they called "on behalf of the National Bank" and that the call is "directly related to one of your accounts."  They leave a toll-free number and an address and ask  one to contact them "if you need any additional information."

Well, since I didn't need "any additional information" I didn't call the number.  When my spouse reported repeated calls, I called the National Bank Mastercard Customer Service number (also toll-free, but different from the number left on the VM message.  MC responded that they had no messages on my file.

So, out of curiosity, I called the 877-985-4202 number.  The person answering claimed to be from MC "Collections" but wanted some of my personal information such as date of birth before he could tell me what the call was about.  I refused to give any personal info and told him that if he in fact was with National Bank MC they needed to get their act together and (i) stop leaving these obscure messages (if you are with the Bank or MC, say so---don't say you are calling "on behalf" of the National Bank), and (ii) the telephone numbers better match---I'm not calling a number that is not on the back of my MC or on my statement and give out any personal information!

    So, very suspicious.  Beware.

Automated reminder that your monthly payment is late, not fraudulent. They just ask info  to be sure it's really you there talking to. Pay on time and you'll never hear from  them again.
Automated number won't be on back of your card it's a computer that calls to remind you your late

i got tons of calls from them but it was for someone else. I just called to this number and the person checked and agree with the mistake and hopefully they will stop calling me. Bottom line, the number seems to be indeed from National bank  Collection Dept.

Two calls so far this morning. The first had "Mastercard" as the caller; the second had nothing. Am not falling for that scam.

they called me several times, left a text, I told them I never have used the card, I did give them my date of birth though, hope that is not a problem, they said I was over due, meanwhile I never got a statement in the mail to pay, They gave me a few names that the card was used in, They transfered me to the fraud department, I then googled the # and read all this messages.

Yeah????? If that is true, then why are they calling me?  I don’t even own a credit card. You must work for the scammers.

One, Shawn hasn't been back in two years-highly unlikely he'll see your comment.
Two, did you ever stop to think it could be a legit number that has been spoofed?

Did you just jump here from a web search? Then had you looked beyond the first entry, you would have found this:
    https://www.nbc.ca/contact-us.html
And this 3/4 down on that site:
    Quote:
    Client solicitation
Clients may also receive automated calls or text messages from National Bank's Perception department. The numbers used for these communications are 1-877-985-4202 or 262-898 (BNC-TXT).

It could have been a scammer calling you or it could have been NB's marketing dept . If your not a Client of NB, then just block the number....easy-peasy! If you are a Client, you might want to contact them and find out about an Opt-out program to eliminate you from receiving any more solicitations.

but what about the fact that they don't have the right account number (the last 4 digits) and the fact that they tell me I'm some bucks over my limit when I'm well under it? smells fishy in my opinion..
