I hope you owed them since this seems to be a scam.  The debt they were trying to collect from me - I had never done business with the company they were saying I owed.  You need to ask them to send you the official paperwork so you can determine if it is a legitimate debt.  Realize they cannot serve you with papers - there is no debtor's prison in the United States.

    They never stop!
I have been getting calls from these people for a couple of years about being sued and  filing with my county to garnish my wages, etc.   I have no idea what debt they are talking about.  Be assured that if you speak with them it will cause you to get flooded with calls once they realize it's a good number.  They are the bottom of the pile and no matter what, they will not stop calling either work or personal numbers around the clock.   Ignore them.  Simply do not answer because you are wasting your breath!   The calls will stop, then go away for a few months, then start back up again for couple of months, been doing it forever!   They are like the pox!!

As part of my company's legal department, I ended up receiving the being sued, filing with with, garnish wages, lien on property garbage too.  When someone finally answered the phone and I began quizzing them, they were as vague as possible, but wanted my specific phone number to use the computer to discontinue the calls, because my phone number, which their computer was calling, was not available to them.  So, we are blocking the number.  I ended up speaking with two people there. Seems really shady to me.  One said they were Transit Capital out of New York, the other one said they were Transit Mediation.  This was definitely ridiculous and a waste of my time. The names on the recording said Ms. Marshall, the name of the second person was Ms. Stevens, and the third name was John.  So, go figure

Losers calls my governement phone and I stated you had a robo call to my state governement building and I have your robo call on the answering machine. And if you do not take the number off I am calling the attorney general office now and play back the message. They ask me what was the number I was hesitant and told them because if they call again the attorney general will file a lawsuit with the vociemail that is saved on the robo call. They said they will not call again! We shall see who calls a government phone and keeps calling every day and not excpect a slap for this stupidity! Wrong people they got intouch with. And the lady said the attorney general will ask them to remeove the phone number so thats why they had to ask. You won't have to talk to them again. All you have to say is that this is a government phone In which I am not lieing that is is truly my work phone for the government. But they have to take it off. And if not each violation starts at $500 then every one after is $1500. And when you tell them that it will get them off fast!!

I got a nasty computerized message saying that my case was going to be turned over for legal action if I didn't call back right away.  I don't have any case - I've never been in trouble or defaulted on anything.  They never left any messages before.  When I called them, it turns out that they had a different name for my number.  I've had this number for a year.  They need to:

    1.  If they call to leave a message, I identify myself on my greeting.  If I'm not the person they are looking for they need to stop calling.

    2.  They should make sure they are calling the right number BEFORE they SEND A THREATENING COMPUTERIZED MESSAGE!!!!!  What's the matter - can't they call in PERSON?????  I'm sure there must be ways to find out who owns a phone number.

    3.  I am SICK AND TIRED of getting calls that are meant for DEADBEATS that are not at MY NUMBER!!!!!!

And YES - I am VERY ANGRY!!!!!   There ought to be a law against this kind of practice.

I received an automated call saying a legal matter was at their office and could result in wage garnishment or tax return garnishment and to call 844-671-7034. I called, was placed on hold immediately, then someone picked up the line and said they would transfer me. I was on hold a little bit longer and a man came on the phone saying I was the emergency contact for my son. I asked what it was about and the company name; he would not give me that info. I told him if I could not get at leasst the company name this would go no further. Trasitmediation is the name I finally given. I called my son, gave him the info and in our opinions, These people are scammers. The other phone number I called them on is 855-587-4849 and 877-370-0474.
        Good luck to all.

Was receiving calls about a past debt- contacted the number given to me (877-312-8954) and a very nice professional woman answered named Maria. I was skeptical so she gave me ACE cash's direct number and they verified that they are a legit business. I called them back and she helped me get set up on payment arrangements, I don't know why there are so many bad reviews on here because the service I had was nothing but professional

Really?  I call shill!  I find it interesting that the majority of posters in this thread have described conduct that is clearly in violation of the the law, yet you praise this organization (that you don't name).

Riddle me this --- you are basically admitting to skipping out on a PDL but wander in here with a vague post praising "very nice professional woman answered named Maria" and claiming this unnamed company is "a legit business".  OTOH, you stiff a creditor (anti-social act), but show up her trying to be helpful to the people that were called (an altruistic act)

Do you even believe your post?

} If I'm not the person they are looking for they need to stop calling.

But the thugs won't because they are trained to disbelieve a "wrong number" claim, as is the standard practice of bullying debt collectors everywhere.

} They should make sure they are calling the right number

It's likely they already did, but chose to bother other people to generate anxiety and shame. Standard thug procedure again.

} calls that are meant for DEADBEATS

Correction, these are calls *from* deadbeats. You don't know that the hunted person truly owes money, and neither do these crooks, frankly.

} There ought to be a law against this kind of practice.

You mean this one, the FDCPA, which only just arrived 35 years before your complaint?

To halt the misfired skip trace calls, laying a paper trail is far more effective than verbal denials. My advice for "not me" cases is found here:

Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists", only sweaty criminals with a script full of bullying remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.
