Rec'd call claiming to be Retention Dept from Washington Mutual offering lower interest rate on my first mortgage.  They requested SSNs, addresses, DOBs.  Phone # on caller ID read 410-774-8180 but phone no. on voice mail stated 888-202-5335.  Follow up call to Washington Mutual corporate indicates this is a fraud.

    Mortgage Guy
Same guy (George Parker - if real name)is at it again and working from public record or buying leads from the credit bureau when an inquiry is done for mortgage. BEWARE - He MISREPRESENTS himself as from your current lender and offers a ridiculously low financing offer. Told us he was from Wells Fargo. Same 410-774-8180 on caller ID. Very afraid this is identity theft bait or they just send you a closing package that will not match the verbal offer!!!!
    Unscrupulous behavior and methods....RUN...!!!

Received a call from a person claiming to be Christopher Vaughn a process server. He called to talk to a friend of my husband and me. Funny part is our friend has never lived with us so I don't know how this guy got our phone number. He said that our friend has a complaint filed against him and he is trying to serve the papers on him, but if he wanted to settle out of court he could call 888-202-5335.

This guy's got a million scenarios to get people to call him.

They just called me to say they were serving me with court papers, could they come to my home? I said they were welcome to serve me at work City of NY Law Department, but that I was already paying the creditor. I grilled them, they said, sorry, forget we called you. Then I called the creditor's law firm directly, they confirmed my payments were being made and that this was a scam by an unscrupulous company that got my info off the Internet. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau, NYC Dept. of Consumer of Affairs and anyone else I can think of. Moral of the story: 1) don't give out your personal info to anyone who calls you; 2) don't be intimidated; and 3) start asking them questions about their address, phone number, company name, etc. I got all three.

Called my cell phone and called my parents' home looking for me because they need to serve me papers.  He said he would be at my home in two hours and wanted to verify my address.  Then he continued to rattle off an old address where I lived several years ago.

This is the second time in two weeks I've received this message.  Doesn't sound credible to me!

I experienced the same thing with this Company they called my Job, talking about serving papers and a number to call them back on, the lady that called saying she was the server, was also the rep when I called  back the number she gave me, I asked her did she call me from a different number claiming to be a server she denied it, They had my social security number and the account they were bugging me about was already paid through another company,  they tried to offer me a settlement offer for something that was already paid. I asked for documents in writing they faxed over a letter with no cover head, address no fax number nothing just this return 976 bogus number that starts off as a 888 number. I called the real  company that was handling my account they said its companies that try to do this now.
