Got a call earlier.  My call blocker identified it as "BC Imaging".  I thought they were calling about a test I have coming up.  Says that they are calling on behalf of my "insurance company" and to be sure they are talking to the right person they need my insurance ID number, my DOB, my SSN, and at that point I said "not happening" and hung up.
The only thing I can find so far is a BC Technical that actually sells and services the equipment.
Sounds like an information scam to me.

I received a call from this number, National Imaging Associates (NIA Magellan), they are a valid third party that contracts with Capital Blue Cross for pre-authorization of specific high tech imaging procedures and radiation oncology.

I subsequently received a letter in the mail from Magellan.  The first problem I have is the fake caller ID.  The second problem I have is a robocall that wants all that information.  The letter should have come first if necessary.  When all was said and done, the test was approved and there was no reason for me to give out that information over the phone.  In this day and age, it would be extremely foolish to give that information to someone cold calling you.

Got call from "BC Imaging" asking for ID number, name, birth date. I have the same response as Amy above. Since I am an RN and work for a major network I would never give this info out over the phone and would not expect Blue Cross to contract to a robo calller.

They're calling me for my S.S. number? BIG RED SCAM FLAG!!!

5 years later I get another call from this outfit only now it sounded like "National Imaging".  Again wanted tons of information.  I hung up on robot girl.  Simply not happening.  I'll see if I get a letter.

Left a vague voice mail. Discovered they are a preauthorization service working with my insurance company to get me an MRI that my doctor ordered.
