- That DudeSCAM ALERT! - They will attempt to threaten you with collection efforts from an old payday loan company. They may try to sound legit, especially if you've actually dealt with a payday loan company in the past, because they ask for verification using the last four digits of your Social Security number...but if you know that you don't owe anything, don't pay them anything and tell them to move forward with whatever process they think they need to and then block their phone number. FYI, they'll call you back from a different number at some point in the future so just keep telling them the same thing.
- Dallasgirl| 1 replyI to just received a call from this number but they did not leave a message. I have been haunted with these calls for years and it is is getting very old. They need to get a REAL JOB and leave me alone!!!! I got a pay day loan years ago and will NEVER AGAIN!!!!

- Frustrated replies to BirdThis is my second call. From a different number. First one had wrong last name, address, employer. Couldn't tell me the dates of loan. Kept saying years ago. Asking for 500.00 to settle out of court. They wanted a credit card #NOT HAPPENING.
- Denver| 1 replyCalls my direct line at work and all you can hear is someone typing.

I work in the judicial system in Washington DC and these people who call like this are SCAMMERS. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY DETAILS NOR ANY MONEY! This number is spoofed (not actually from where you think its from) and could be coming from another country, My guess is India as most of the people have Indian Accents. There are so many Scams out there today its impossible to name them all, but here's but a few of the scenarios.
The caller says you have won a free education.
The caller wants to know if you have any health issues
the caller wants to know if you had any recent surgeries
the caller wants to know if you have a lawsuit pending
The caller is looking for someone named (insert name here) because they have won money
the caller is looking for someone named (insert name here) becasue they are in danger of being sued and they need this persons statement before they make a decision.
the caller says (a members name in your family) is in jail and they need to speak to you
the last four digits of your checking account are compromised and they need to talk to you before they turn it in.
I am guessing after all this you are getting the point of what I am saying. They always preface this with they need your social security number to validate who you are and a few more pieces of information (they already have so much on you because they have called you already-- they just need a few more bits to complete the file)
The best I have heard in my office is they are calling because they say they can not find you. This is Crap as the sheriff, will NEVER, EVER call you to tell you they are coming. They live to work on the element of surprise. Plus if your township, county etc, wants you, they already know where you are, so sit tight.
Most important, NEVER CALL these low life bottom feeders back. Because truth be known they don't care who they talk to as long as they can get money from someone. It doesn't even have to be the right person. If you call them back then they know that they have a real tangible working phone number that they can call to harass you all the time of day and night. Just ignore the call, or better yet, tag them as a spam call in your phone, and you'll never even see them ring it.
Third, these people function and live on the *Fear factor* they will say anything, tell you anything to get you to give them the money thru your checking account, debit card or credit card. Many people get scammed this way. I've heard : coming to your workplace to arrest you, serving you in the morning if you don't call by a certain time, attaching your salary, etc, etc, this is all nothing but crap.
A good idea is to never answer a call from someone you don't know. If its important they will leave a message.
One more thing I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile. They have got this to a science. With all that is going on in court system they know they have time on their side. Not enough of these low life bottom feeders get caught and prosecuted, if they did...they wouldn't still be in business, but they are, thousands of them.

- Pittsburgh Scam GurusWe received several calls from this number with no message left -- And when we called the number back to obtain info, there is no answer. But it sounds like a typical old-school payday loan scam. They always use the same set-up, so anyone on the weside should be quite familiar with how it unfolds.

- JessicaI got this call and I refused to verify my ssn so I asked them to do something else and they tried to state a third party law but I told them the fair debt law says it’s against the law. So I just told them I won’t talk to them. If it was a payday loan I have never done those types of loans and never will. Always went with a bank. So won’t ever believe them since they have to send something by mail.

- KatReceived a call like this on 9/11 about 5 in the evening regarding payday loans from 10-12 years ago. So I know what you all have gone through. Some of you sound word for word what happened to me. It's scary. I ironic thing is that both my cell phone and land line rang at the same time from this number. I really wish that calls like these could by stopped but I don't see how of they have access to all these different numbers. But something has to be done.
