- Recent AT&T ID Theft Victim| 1 replyBoth my husband and I have been targeted by these scammers. BLOCKED THEM and are reporting them to Experian Identity Works. They intentionally avoided referencing what company they represent. The messages they left for both of us contained both spoken and recorded voice.

- californianGot a call from a 510 area code number asking me to call this number, saying there was a background investigation against "me". The first name they used was the bogus name I have set up as the admin account for my computer, though they got the last name right. Supposedly someone named "Christina Clark" from "Legal Clear Services" though a google search didn't turn up any company with that name.

- BigA replies to Recent AT&T ID Theft VictimWhy would you report them to Experian Identity Works instead of the proper Federal and State Agencies that can actually do something?
- BigAThe fake process server/location specialist scam usually contains:
They mention that they have received a Fax document or that some sort of complaint has “come across my desk” and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation. It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - Billreceived a call from a Leon Parker from a 708-249-9654 who left a message to call this 888-212-4697 about legal pending action/complaint to be filed today if I failed to respond, to their case number 064-042. legal summons will be served at my place of employment, residence, etc. Sounds like the scam listed by others on this site, and like the ones I have gotten over the past few years.

- HawkClaimed I was being issues a civil lawsuit from a credit card that is unpaid from 27years ago. Originally caller did not speak very good English. When I called the number a gal named Brenda answered to let me know of a civil lawsuit pending by their office( wouldn't say by who). she did have the name and last 4 of my ssn. Let her know the statute of limitations in Wisconsin is 8 years and she abruptly said good luck and hung up the phone. Definitely a scam so beware. I contacted the card holder about 5 years ago when I received a similar call from someone not very well versed in English. They don't even have a record of me having an outstanding balance let alone a card anymore.

- LucyI received the exact same call as those stated above. They even called my brother, and that’s why I returned their phone call. It’s unethical to go straight to a family member because you didn’t answer the first phone call they made to you.
The first odd thing is that the first ring was longer than normal. When they answered, they didn’t state the company name, only they her name was Monica. I asked the company name first, and she said “you called me”. I told her that I’m returning a phone call, and that I needed to know the company’s name. She said it’s “Fuller, Jefferson, & Mahoney”. I gave her the case number and she put me on hold, and hung up. I kept calling back, and would get hung up on. My last call she actually told me don’t call them again lol.
Refused to give me a website and license number. Told me that I needed to do the work myself.
Scam and please beware.- Caller: Fuller, Jefferson, & Mahoney

- RajGot a message from 718-783-5622, saying that they are following up on a complaint made by my EX. and documents regarding my file were being prepared and I would have to be available to sign for delivery, and that I would have to call the issuing agent at 888-212-4697.
I googled the numbers and ended up on this page.
Thanks much to the contributors for the info.
The callers number turns out to be a retired schoolteacher in Brooklyn. The called sounded like a young latina woman who identified herself as Maxine.- Call type: Unwanted
- JacquelineFraudulent jerks. Call came from +1 (512) 996-3996, but left a vm to return call at number reported! Called back both, confirmed they were scam artists and thieves without a doubt. Trying to frighten me by phoning me & my family and leaving the exact same recorded message.
Major mistake in saying that I, but used my maiden name, owed several thousand dollars in debt. Liars. I didn’t even accumulate debt until I’d been married almost ten years. Report these fraudsters immediately!- Caller: “Our office”

- EmilyCaller was named Freya. Left message about a reference case number for my ex step mother and that documents would be sent to me. Then the voice changed to a robotic lady that left a phone number of an issuing agent that I need to contact immediately. The phone number was 657-502-3225. I called from a different number and the same robotic voice answered and told me the law firm she "worked" for. I could hear lots of chattering in the background as if it was a call center and immediately hung up. Scam likely
