I also received a call today,  from Loretta Green. She states that she received an order in her office and that she has a summons to serve me for writing a bad check. I am to call the Plaintiff at 888-231-9852 and give them my Case Number which she provided. She never said whom the plaintiff is,  just gave their number.  FDCPA states a collection agency MUST give you a VALIDATION OF DEBT, which I never received. She also called my father and left the same message on his voice mail including a subpoena as well. THIRD PARTY DISCLOSURE IS ILLEGAL.  I called this number and the only id is CAPTAL,  that's it. When ever I call them I just get a voice mail.
I already contacted my attorney to file suite..

well i received one of those phone calls and i Never! wrote a bad check hell i havent even had a bank account in over a yr i still got one of those phone calls. this Company is a BIG Scam! they wont give me any of there information.

yea, i received the same phone call saying a wrote a bad check and i have to call the plaintiff.  i asked for the plaintiff's name they said they did not have it.  Then they gave me the docket number except the docket number was bogus! docket numbers are supposed to have at least 7 digits there's didn't.  I went to the Judicial website to look up the case....just as i thought case not found.  This company is BOGUS!! its a big scam!

He's a bill collector.

I don't care how bad your financial status is;  it is illegal for a bill collector to threaten you and take you to court unless they really can do so. When that happens believe me they are not going to call you up and harass you they will just sue you within a months' time. You wont be receiving calls for three months to year,  or more.

By the way,  I didn't write a bad check. When you default on a loan and the payment is by an ACH  debit transaction it's not writing a bad check. That only obtains to a physical check. If you have any knowledge of the law you would know that!

Just google bad check laws,  you'll see. Remember "knowledge is power", learn.

They are NOT a scam; at least I don't think so yet. Give me just a little more time and I'll know, ok. I think they are a legitimate collection agency and they really might own the accounts they are trying to collect on. They just have poor collection skills. Good collectors can actually help you and resolve your debts; as long as you're trying. Did you ever talk to a decent bill collector? I have and she did help with 3 of my debts so far. I am trying to clean my CBR.

This company is just incompetent.

Did this man have a MIDDLE EASTERN ACCENT? If so they are scam companies. I agree give them nothing. If they are harassing you at home, work, anywhere, just tell them you gave their number to your Attorney General's Office,  your attorney, the FBI, and you local police department and they will get caught. The calls will stop. I promise.

I had a message left on my phone today saying I wrote a bad check...I haven't written a check in years.  The number was different 1-888-341-3728 but it was Loretta Green I called back and just kept getting a recording.  She said she had a summons and if she didn't hear from me today she  was going to come to my house or place of work.  This is crazy who are these people???

Does anyone know if this is legitimate?  I made the mistake of getting a payday loan online but have paid it back....now I am getting threatening phone calls all the time at my work and on my personal phone saying I wrote bad checks and owe money.  I received a call today from someone named Jessica Johnson saying she had a summons she would have to serve upon me if she does not hear from me within 24 hours.  She said I should contact the plaintiffs directly to try to resolve it.  She did not leave her number and she rattled the number off so quickly, I had to replay the message several times to get the number correctly.  She did not say who they were and left the number 1-888-341-3728 as well as a case number.  I believe they are just trying to verify my information to extort money from me.  Please let me know if you have any information as to whether or not this is legitimate.

I have the same type of situation.. Got call from a Brian Tate Yesterday.. different phone number 888-434-8361.. says I will be served with a summons at work/home for fraudulant checks..  I have not written any checks in years.  I pay all my bills through my banks online billpay so I know this is a SCAM!  I have notified Attorney General, FBI, FCC, etc...
