- PatThanks for this service. I decided to call back the number they left from an office phone, this morning. It's already out of service. Good work, scammer reporters!
- DontScamMeAug 15, 2014 - Rcvd recorded message on cell phone voicemail saying it was from Barclay Bank and my account had fraudulent activity. I don't have an account with Barclay. Call went straight to VM and never rang, but the VM registered it as coming from Barclay Bank with thi bank phone number. The message stated I should call that number or, if out of the US to call a Delaware (302) exchange directly.
Coincidentally, I received a call from an unknown caller on the same date at 12:58AM, and a family member received the same robocall on 8/14/2014, but the caller ID showed another of Barclay's phone numbers and the message gave that number, too. He stupidly called the number in message, thinking there was an issue with his card, and the number was no good. So, he called the number on the back of his Barclays card and was informed it was a phone scam they are aware of and that there was no problem with his account.
We thought it might have to do with a recent Amazon.com purchase, cell phone swap out, or the Target breach, so we changed our passwords just in case. The calls came in both in alphabetical order by last name and numerical order by phone number. Not sure if that has anything to do with how calls are being dialed. We will be reporting the calls to law enforcement.- Caller: "Barclay Bank"
- Call type: Prank
- RoboCalled| 1 replyMy husband and I both got this call on our separate cell phones. Called back and the number is not even in service. Is Barclay even a real bank?
- Caller: Barclay Bank
- Chucky replies to RoboCalledBarclays is a real bank, mostly in England but with some US operations. In the States the company is best known as title sponsor of the basketball arena in Brooklyn and as title sponsor for Premier League soccer.
- PeggyI'm so glad I read this. I received a call from these scammers over the weekend, but it went straight to my voicemail. I had just activated a credit card from Amazon and had used it the day before, so I though they just wanted me to verify it was me that used the card. However, when I called the number they gave, it was out of service. I deleted the message from my voicemail, so I couldn't even listen to it again to make sure I wrote it down correctly. Which is why I'm glad to see that other recipients of this caller reported the number as being out of service. It's disheartening that there are so many crooks in the world, isn't it?
- Caller: Barclay Bank
- bgI got a similar call (message left on my cell phone) on August 19th, but it pretended to be MasterCard (which I do have), but as others found the number has been disconnected, and my accounts are fine.
- Caller: MasterCard (scam)
