- Alex| 3 repliesThis is a scam organization that calls themselves "IDA Plus" from the fake California Fraud Detection Unit. They will try to get you to give them your email address or other info by claiming they have info to send you that shows you have become vulnerable to "black market" or identity fraud. They will claim that their "screen is encrypted" so they cannot tell you what this information actually is. It is an obvious scam. The callers try to mask their foreign accents as well and sound as if they are reading off a slip of paper repetitiously every time you ask them a question. I got a call from them today and told the scammed to get a real job and basically told him to get a life.
- Rick replies to AlexI got this same call and could barely understand the woman. She read off a hotmail address that of course wasn't mine and then asked for the correct email where they could send me information. When I told her I wasn't giving out personal information on the phone, she gave up pretty quick.
- DanI just received a call similar to what Alex described. It was an asian or Philippine sounding man. He kept repeating himself and I kept asking questions with no answer. i did not give him any info. It is clearly a scam and what is worse is that I called the number back after I blocked my phone number when calling and someone actually answered! It is such a scam do not give them your information at all.!
- Caller: IDA Plus
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- PaulI recieved the same call today as Alex. I asked the lady how she knows my phone number but doesn't know my email address. Ha...she couldn't answer but she didn't give up easy. Thanks for the info everyone.

- JimJust got the same call and they had most of my email address except they said com not net and i corrected them My bad What kind of things should I look out for from these jerks. I'm a unemployed carpenter and don't have much for them to steal anyway but can anyone tell me what to watch for. They said they were going to send me a email within the next 48 hours. My guess is they will try to get me to sign up for something and get info that way.
Thanks for any info in advance!!!!!- Caller: IDA Plus
- Diane| 1 replyJust received a call from this number. The woman was difficult to understand. I told her she was talking to fast for me to understand and asked her to repeat again the company she was calling for. She at first stated IDA and then stated AID. When I asked what company she was calling for she stated it was an identity fraud company and wanted to verify my e-mail address. She also stated that her company scans the internet looking for fraudulent acts and they do this as public service. When I stated the company I used to tract identity fraud already had my correct e-mail address and I refused to verify or give her the correct. She then then terminated the call.
After reading the above comments, I am glad that I have no further information. - LucyI just received a call from an Indian sounding woman who also spoke very fast. She stated that this organization scans the "Black Market" websites looking for teir members stolen identities. She confirmed my phone phone but when I demanded to know where she got it from she said it had been located through this "stolen personal Information". When I asked what email address she had she provided a false one. I told charge of the conversation and told her I was asking the questions now! I asked for a physical address - of course that didn't google and then I asked for the CEO of the organization and she stated that "we are worldwide". So now I demand that she delete my phone number and any information they have connected to me, that if I received one more call I will report them to the CA Attorney Generals Office for Fraud and Harrassment. She offered me a website where I could check them out: www.idaad.org. If you want to stop these calls be offensive! Demand to know who they are and where they're located, get names, and then tell them what you'll do if they ever call you again!
- Bryan Bithell replies to AlexWhat I would like to know is if there is a way to have them arrested?
- Bryan replies to AlexI did call the attorney general and reported the number. Hope it helps.
- grandmotherI too got the same number call. I asked who their company was, same as above IDA, they claim to keep track of people who are being stalked.
I said to him who gave you my number? No answer from him. Then he said an email address, I told him I would not give him any information about myself, and he might as well take me off the list he has. He was an India man I am sure, talked fast try to out talk me, but shut up when I told him I never tell anyone anything about me. He got quiet when I told him never call back or he would be reported. Then I hung up on him. They are such lazy people who cant apparently get a real job. They are true STALKERS!- Caller: IDA

- WhyteWolf| 1 replyjust had a call from this number however they said they were some kind of card company [missed the name]. and because of a recent purchase from rattled off a bunch of places i wouldn't be caught dead in. that i qualified for a free $25 gift card from them. and that they could ship it to me for $2.95. when i said i didn't want it the woman sounded confused. that the card was worth more then the shipping. i explained that a card i wouldn't use is worthless to me. and that i would rather just not pay for anything then pay for something i am not going to use.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- John replies to WhyteWolfI received a similar call regarding a $25 gift card for Walmart on Jan. 19. The caller gave me the last four digits of my credit card number, which has obviously been stolen at some point. I have made a police report and closed my credit card. Also placing a freeze on my credit report.
- TheresaSCAM I just received a similar call just now, Jan 21, 2011. It was a woman saying she was with "US Rewards Card" and since I bought something from one of their partner stores last December (Walmart, Target and somewhere else) I was going to receive a $25 gift card to Walmart (I don't shop there) and a $25 dining card to somewhere. And then I hung up so I don't know what info they had on me or what they wanted. I'm on the Do Not Call list! And they called me Jan 11th and I didn't pick up. I already filed a complaint with the FCC yesterday about the previous call.

- MSlovelyThis number called me January 21, 2011. The number looked strange so I didn't answer it and sent it to voice mail. They did not leave a message so I called back later when office hours were closed and all the lady said was customer service office hours are closed, then the automatic voice machine hung up. I probably agree with everyone else they are a scam and just want to get your information so everyone be aware I'm just glad I didn't answer.

- X TedI just received a phone call from this number. I was told I was a winner of a so called 'bonus reward' company. I apparently won a $100 reward card for my purchases from stores such as Walmart and Target... additionally, I won a $25 dinning card. This guy already had my house address and my email address. He told the company was going to mail me my reward within a week. He even gave me his name and contact number (Luis Lopez/888-246-2495). What I found suspicious is that the guy asked for my credit card number. When I asked him why he needed it for, he told me it was needed for shipping and handling ($4.95 cost). I immediately hung up. He called back right away... I never answered.
- VANESSATHEY CALLED ME ASKED FOR MY HUSBAND I ASKED WHO WAS CALLING THEY DIDNT SAY THEIR NAME BUT TOLD ME THEY WILL CALL LATER , LEFT ME WORRIED, BUT THE MAN HAD A ACCENT
- Kris| 1 replyAs most of the recent people have listed, this number called me stating I purchased something at walmart/target/some other freakin place. I hadnt made any purchases anywhere recent. I have no idea how they even got my cell number or my address at my NEW APARTMENT that I just moved into. blah blah, you get 500$ gift card for 5$ shipping, just give your credit card number... Suuuuuure, let me get right on that.
