- Jane| 10 repliesI received what appears to be a scam letter from a "Goldman & Associates", (Wealth Mgmt Division), 91 Dufferin Ave., London, ON, N6A 1K4, Canada. Their phone number is a toll free number: 1-888-249-7834, and the letter was signed by a Jordon McFarlane. Has anyone else gotten a letter in the mail that tells them they are a "beneficiary" to a large sum of money? I think it's a scam, so I'm just checking.
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Jane replies to Jane| 2 repliesI do realize this is a letter, and not a phone call scam, but I did call the number and the voice message said they were Goldman & Associates. (Of course, I also tried to do a reverse look-up, but it's toll-free, so there's no info on it.) When I tried looking up the company on line, I couldn't find a listing for them - I'm assuming they're trying to pass themselves off as a lawyer's office of some kind. There was no return address on the envelope, and there were a couple typos in the letter. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience, and if so, is there any info I should report, and to whom should I report it? Thanks.
- CWG40 replies to JaneMost likely a scam. Any communication recieved by US mail which appears fraudulent should be taken down to the local post office so that the postal inspectors can take a look at it. This may be some form of mail fraud.
- Steve replies to JaneMy wife got this same kind of letter in the mail today. Definitely fraudulent.
- CQ RN replies to Jane| 2 repliesI also received a letter from the same alleged Company this week. 100% SCAM...1st tip, was postmarked Baltimore MD
- Tina replies to JaneI received the same letter. The sentence structure/wording sounds as if it was written by someone whose English is a second language.
- Lynda replies to CQ RN| 1 replyI also received the letter today, saying I had him as a patient in the hospital and I as a nurse had taken care of this benefactor. Funny they knew I was a nurse. Signature at bottom was not hand written, giving away large sums of money with a pre written letter! Yeah right!
- Charmaine replies to JaneI received the same letter today for Goldman & Associates same address. They indicated that I was the beneficiary of a large sum of money. It's a scam. If it sounds to good to be true it usually is.
- Teri replies to JaneYes I did, what did you find out?
- Susan replies to LyndaMe, too, I'm a nurse and wouldn't it be nice if a former patient appreciated that I took care of him with great compassion that propelled him to recover faster than the doctors anticipated and that he wanted to astonish me with a great compensation!!!
- Dennis Johnson replies to JaneI also received a letter. Telling me that 2.4 million US dollars as executor of my wife's estate. Said earlier letter was returned undelivered. Which is possible. She also was a nurse and letter mentions she was a caregiver/Nurse in an institution that the unnamed client received great compassionate care. I've just threw the letter up on a shelf and never followed thru on double checking due to being very suspicious.
