- CK| 2 repliesGot an email from “PayPal” that I had made a $289 transaction. There was a phone number at the bottom that said to call for question. I looked up the actual PayPal number, called them, and they said I made no transactions and the email was not from them. I called the number in the email and they introduced as PayPal. When I asked if they were really PayPal he said “Yes this is why are you calling” I explained that he was lying and how I knew, and he told me not to call the number again.

- KNGot an email from PayPal that said I made a $289.00 transaction...I never opened a PayPall account...My experience was the same as above except I called the phone number that was in the email...Could not understand the person on the other end...When I asked where they were located, they hung up on me...

- FWSame as above. I checked my PayPal activities to see if, indeed, an authorization to pay $289 for a VPN account had been posted. It hasn't as of this posting. I left a voicemail at 1-888-266-0470 as indicated in their email seeking information and help. Have not heard from anyone. Waiting for PayPal to answer my inquiries. The people that sent the e-mail to me make an attempt to make you think the message was from PayPal.

- DT| 1 replyReceived an email claiming to be from PayPal that I had ordered a yearly subscription to McAfee in the amount of $289. Never happened. Curious that all these various PayPal scams are using the same $289 charge. I forwarded a copy of the email to spoof@paypal.com.

- BubI received the same email from "PayPal". I called the number and was very skeptical. He was very convincing, but when I asked the obviously Middle Eastern "gentleman" his name before I hung up, he said his name was Kenny Williams. It was a dead give-away. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM - THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!

- Heather SchneiderSame, but the managed to scam an actual 700 from my account, said they notified my bank. I got a call id from my banks' number, boom soon as I answered it was after 7, but I did not think anything of it until I tried to call the same bank number, off and got the banks automatic system saying 7am to 7pm
- ninasame as above except i kind of figured it was not right when i heard the accent of the person who answered the phone. was asked for my name and i gave them a fake name, was asked for my email address and yep gave them a fake one of those too, then was asked what my bank was and i told them some random bank that i havent banked with in about 10 years. so with not a correct name, a fake email and not the correct bank i doubt there is anything they can actually do. They said they would call me back with further directions and at that time i let them know that the number i called was not paypals number according to paypal and then i hung up.
- TH replies to DTI received same thing as above. Do I need to notify my bank? Or contact the actual PayPal? Or forward the email to someone? Please advise me how to proceed.
